How to Get to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

To get to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, arrive in Zhangjiajie City first by train or by air, or take a coach from nearby cities. In Zhangjiajie, direct buses and taxis are convenient ways to the national park.
 

3 Ways to Arrive at Zhangjiajie City First

1. Best Way: High Speed Train

For visitors not too far from Zhangjiajie, taking bullet train is the best way for its high speed and not high train tickets. Note that all bullet trains to Zhangjiajie stop by Zhangjiajie West Railway Station.

In addition, if there is no direct flight from your place to Zhangjiajie and the transfer time between 2 planes is too long, or the flight ticket fare is much higher than the train ticket fare, you can also consider taking a bullet train.

Apart from bullet trains, there are also traditional style trains with lower speed running to Zhangjiajie. These trains stop at either Zhangjiajie Railway Station or Zhangjiajie West Railway Station. Their travel time is long. But they outweigh by their much lower ticket price, thus very suitable for visitors with limited budget, especially those trains traveling overnight, which also help save one-night accommodation cost. For instance, train no. T8302 leaves Guangzhou at 20:50 and arrives in Zhangjiajie the next morning at 10:05; ticket fare for a hard sleeper is only CNY318.5.

2. Fastest Way: Flight

Plane is the first choice for visitors travelling from far places to Zhangjiajie, like Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, and Seoul, for its short travel time, but the ticket price is comparatively higher.

3. Cheapest Way: Long-distance Bus or Coach

Long-distance bus is suitable for those not far from Zhangjiajie and not mind spending much time on taking vehicles.

By taking long-distance bus, you will arrive at either Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station or Zhangjiajie High Speed Rail Bus Station, which are next to Zhangjiajie Railway Station and Zhangjiajie West Railway Station respectively.

Travel from Zhangjiajie to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

1. From Zhangjiajie West Railway Station or Adjacent Zhangjiajie High Speed Railway Bus Station

Zhangjiajie West Railway Station, about 21 km (13 mi) to National Forest Park, is the nearest railway station to the scenic spot. Next to the Station is the Zhangjiajie High Speed Railway Bus Station.

Coach: 40 min; CNY 13
Take the coach running from the High Speed Railway Bus Station to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park directly. The buses run from 8:00 – 17:20, but note there is no fixed departure time as the drivers would depart as long as the coach is full.

Taxi: 25 – 30 min; CNY 50 – 75
 

2. From Zhangjiajie Railway Station or nearby Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station

Zhangjiajie Railway Station and the Central Bus Station on the northwest of it are 40 km (25 mi) from Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. 

Coach: 1h; CNY13
Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station, on the northwest of Zhangjiajie Railway Station, operates frequent direct coaches to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park from 6:30 to 17:30. Similarly, the departure frequency is also not fixed, but the bus leaves once fully occupied.

Taxi: 40 – 50 min; CNY 85 – 100
 

3. Depart from Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport

City Bus + Direct Coach: 1.5h; CNY 15 – 25
At the airport, take city bus no. 4 to Wuling Natural Specialties Tourism Shopping Mall Bus Stop, taking CNY 2 and 45 minutes. After get off the bus, there is still 1 km’s distance to Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station. Either walk for 15 minutes or spend CNY 10 to take a taxi to reach the Bus Station. Last, spend 1 hour and CNY 13 to take a direct coach mentioned above to Wulingyuan. Don’t forget the operation hours of the coach: 6:30 to 17:30.

Take a taxi from the airport to Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station, taking about CNY 20 and 15-20 minutes. There, get on the direct coach mentioned above to Wulingyuan.
