Guangzhou – Zhangjiajie: 3 Ways to Travel

The distance between Guangzhou and Zhangjiajie is about 980km (610mi). Presently, there are 3 ways to travel from one to the other:

1. Direct Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie or Zhangjiajie to Guangzhou high speed train takes 5.5 – 7 hours. This is the best way. Discounted tickets are offered in low season.

2. The flight taking around 2 hours is the fastest way, but it is operated only during peak season and the frequency is about 2 – 4 flights each week.

3. Overnight normal speed trains are also available every day, costing only CNY200 – 300 for hard sleeper but taking 12 – 14 hours.

How to Travel from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie

1. Cost-effective Way: Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie High Speed Train: 5.5 – 7h, CNY 530 – 665.5 for 2nd Class Seat

The Guangzhou – Zhangjiajie flights are only operated in peak seasons.

Then, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, one flight would depart from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) at 18:35 and land at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (DYG) at 20:30. Occasionally, on Friday, the morning flight would depart at 6:25 and land at 8:10, which share the same take-off and landing airports above.

3. Economic Guangzhou - Zhangjiajie Normal Train: 12.5 – 13.5h, CNY237.5 - 318.5 for Hard Sleeper

3 normal speed trains travel daily from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie.

1. Zhangjiajie to Guangzhou High Speed Train: 5.5 - 6h, CNY 530 – 665.5 for 2nd Class Seat

Zhangjiajie to Guangzhou flight flies, also in peak seasons only. On every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, it departs from Hehua Airport at 21:25 and lands at Baiyun Airport at 10:30; on Friday, the flight time is 8:55 – 10:30.

3. Zhangjiajie to Guangzhou Normal Speed Train: 12 - 14h, CNY237.5 - 318.5 for Hard Sleeper

Daily, 3 overnight normal speed trains leaves from Zhangjiajie to Guangzhou.

How to Travel from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Wulingyuan)

1. Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie High Speed Train + Direct Bus: 7h, over CNY500

→Take a high speed train to Zhangjiajie West Railway Station;
→On the southeast of the front square of the train station, there is a bus station where passengers can take a direct bus to Wulingyuan, taking CNY12 and about 40 minutes

2. Flight + City Bus + Non-stop Bus: at least 4h, roughly CNY 515 – 1,015

→Take a flight to Zhangjiaijie Hehua Airport;
→Take the city bus line 4 at the airport to Wuling Natural Specialties Tourism Shopping Mall, taking one hour and CNY2;
→walk southward for about 800 meters (875 yards) to Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station;
→Take a direct bus at the bus station to Wulingyuan, taking 1 hour and CNY12
