Travel Between Chengdu and Zhangjiajie: 3 Ways

Chengdu is 900km (550mi) to the northwest of Zhangjiajie. There are no direct trains between them and direct flights are only in service in peak travel seasons. The most accessible ways to travel between the 2 cities include:

1. Travel by train with a transfer in Chongqing. This is the cheapest way, costing around CNY300.
2. Also travel by train, but with a transfer at Huaihua. Both train rides are high speed rail rides with quieter and cleaner carriage environment, but costing more.
3. In peak seasons, Chengdu to Zhangjiajie/ Zhangjiajie to Chengdu flights are the fastest way, taking 1.5 hours only.

Tip: Discounts for high speed train tickets are frequent.
 In peak season, Sichuan Airlines operates a flight on every Tuesday to Sunday once a day from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU) at 11:30 and landing in Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (DYG) at 13:00.

In other time, you can take Chengdu to Guiyang to Zhangjiajie connecting flight. It is operated on every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

→2nd Half Flight: 17:10 from the Longdongbao Airport – 18:15 to the Hehua Airport

 Zhangjiajie to Chengdu direct flights are also available in peak seasons. They depart from Hehua Airport at 22:30 and land in Chengfu Tianfu International Airport at 00:10.
 → Take trains to Zhangjiajie West Railway Station either transferring in Chongqing or Huaihua. 
→ On the southeast of the front square of the Zhangjiajie West Railway Station, there is a bus station where passengers can take a direct bus to Wulingyuan, taking CNY 12 and about 1 h.
 → Take a flight from Chengdu Tianfu Airport to Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport.
→ Take Bus No. 4 at the airport to Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station, taking one hour and CNY 2.
→ Take a direct bus at the bus station to Wulingyuan, taking 1 hour and CNY 13.
