Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport, one of the two international airports in Hunan Province and the only airport in Zhangjiajie, is surrounded by charming natural scenery. It is around 6 kilometers (4 miles) from the city proper and 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. When first built, it was named Dayong Airport, but later renamed as Hehua Airport. It now operates both domestic flights connecting cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi'an and international ones linking countries like South Korea and Thailand. It can host some 5 million passengers annually. 
 

Only 1 Terminal: T2

Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport has only 1 terminal building - T2, which has 3 floors altogether.

Check-in Site: 2nd Floor

To check in, please go to Check-in Island A on the second floor, where there are 16 Check-in Counters. Counters No. 1-8 are for domestic flights; no. 9-16 are for international flights. It should be noted that no. 9 is reserved for first class and business class passengers. To save time, you can also use the self-service check-in machines, which are also on the second floor. Note that the check-in services would stop 40 minutes before the planes depart.

Zhangjiajie Airport Flight Schedule

2. International Flights Schedule

South Korea - Zhangjiajie flights are very frequent and there are 1 - 2 flights on every Tuesday or Wednesday, and Saturday. Visitors can depart from Seoul, Busan, and Daegu. In addition, in tourism peak season, there are flights between Zhangjiajie and Southeast Asian countries or cities like Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Vietnam.
 

How to Travel between Hehua Airport and Zhangjiajie Downtown

1. Shuttle Bus

Pick-up Point: outside the Arrival Hall, 1F
First bus: 40 minutes after the first flight of the day lands

2. City Bus: No.4 loop line including 401 and 402

401 and 402 are the inner line and outer line of bus No.4. They all pass by Hehua Airport, the city center and the lower station of Tianmen Mountain Cable Car.

Operation Time: roughly from 6:00 – 19:00
 

3. Taxi

Taxis are available at the airport to send passengers to city center or famous scenic spots directly. You may also hail a car in advance through these car-hailing apps like Didi. Below is the taxi fare from the airport for reference:

How to Travel from Hehua Airport to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

→ Spend CNY 2 to take bus No. 4, get off at Wuling Shanzhenguan Bus Stop.
→ Walk for 15 minutes to Central Bus Station. 
→ Then, take long-distance buses to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park directly.

How to Travel from Hehua Airport to Fenghuang Ancient Town

→ Take bus No. 401/402 to Zhangjiajie West Railway Station.
→ Take a direct bullet train to the Ancient Town. It takes about 1 hour and costs CNY 52 - 93 for a 2nd class seat ticket.
