Best Way to Travel between Changsha and Zhangjiajie

The distance between Changsha and Zhangjiajie is about 360 km (225mi). Since no plane is available, the best travel way from one to the other is by high speed train, taking the least time: 2 - 4 hours. In addition, normal speed trains run with 3 - 5.5 hours and a cheaper ticket. For trains, the ticket discounts are very common. The long-distance buses from Changsha directly to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Wulingyuan) are also in service.

How to Travel from Changsha to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Wulingyuan)

→Take speed train from Changsha to Zhangjiajie West Railway Station, taking 2 – 4h
→Walk for 8 min to the adjacent Zhangjiajie High Speed Bus Station
→Take the direct bus to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park directly within 1h

2. Normal Speed Train + Direct Bus: 4 – 6.5h; at least CNY116.5

→Take train from Changsha to Zhangjiajie Railway Station, taking 3 – 5.5h
→Walk for 10 min to Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station
→Take the direct bus to reach the Forest Park in 1h

3. Direct Long-distance Bus: around 5h; CNY103

→ Take a long-distance bus at Changsha West Bus Station and get off at Wulingyuan Bus Station, taking 5h
→ walk for 15 minutes to the Forest Park

Tips:

1. The tickets of high speed trains may be under great demands, especially during peak seasons and China’s holidays, so it’s advisable to book in advance.
2. Occasional delays and old facilities are possible for normal speed trains.
3. For long-distance buses, it can be influenced by traffic and hard to book a ticket in advance. In addition, the bus has limited leg space.
