How to Travel Between Chongqing and Zhangjiajie

Chongqing is about 600 km (370 mi) from Zhangjiajie. The direct transportation means between the 2 cities include flight on peak seasons and normal speed train all year around. For flight, the travel time is 1 hour and the cheapest economic class ticket costs only CNY 450. The duration of normal speed trains is 6 to 6.5 hours and a hard sleeper ticket for a single trip costs around CNY130.

Direct high speed train is not available. But a transfer in Huaihua can be considered. By this way, it costs CNY 441 for 2nd class seat and takes 6.5 - 7h in total.
 Undoubtedly, flight is the fastest way to travel from Chongqing to Zhangjiajie. However, the flights usually operate only on peak seasons. Then, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, 1 flight would depart from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) at 6:50 and land in Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (DYG) at 8:00.

Online tickets may be sold at 20% to 75% discount and it is better to book tickets in advance.

 3 normal speed trains send tourists from Chongqing North Railway Station to Zhangjiajie West Railway Station every day. It is a cost-effective and convenient transportation means. These trains would take you to Zhangjiajie before late night.
