Best Way to Travel between Shanghai and Wuxi

Shanghai is about 140km (85mi) east to Wuxi. As the quickest way of transport, bullet trains take only 0.5-1h and CNY46-69 for 2nd Class Seat. Normal speed trains take 1.5-2h and at least CNY19.5-21.5. For travelers between Shanghai Pudong Airport / Hongqiao Airport and Wuxi, nonstop coaches are available.

How to Travel from Shanghai Airports to Wuxi

1. Pudong Airport to Wuxi:

By long-distance bus: Pudong Airport Long-distance Bus Station operates daily buses to Wuxi, as showed in the chart Shanghai to Wuxi Bus above.

By metro + bullet train: take metro line 2 to Hongqiao Railway Station and then catch a bullet train there to get to Wuxi, taking about 2 hours and CNY50-80 in total.

2. Hongqiao Airport to Wuxi: Metro/Walk + Bullet Train - 1-1.5h, CNY60 in average

If you arrive at the Terminal 1 of Shanghai Hongqiao Airport (SHA), find the Exit 1 and take Metro Line 10. After 10min, get off at the Hongqiao Railway Station. And the ticket is CNY3. Then, you can transfer to the bullet train to Wuxi.

It will be easier if you arrive at Terminal 2, because it is connected with Hongqiao Railway Station by underground passage. Follow the signs and you can walk to the station within 15min. Another convenient way is to take metro line 2 or line 10. Then, you can transfer to bullet trains directly.

On average, these two ways will cost you 1-1.5h and CNY60 in total.

How to Travel from Wuxi to Shanghai Airports

1. Wuxi to Shanghai Pudong Airport: about 2h, CNY50-80

Passengers can take a bullet train to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station first, then take metro line 2 to Pudong Airport directly.

2. Wuxi to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport: Two Ways

Bullet Train + Metro/Walk: 1-1.5h, CNY60 on average
Since Hongqiao Airport is adjacent to Hongqiao Railway Station. Tourists can first get to the railway station by bullet train in 0.5-1h at the price of CNY46-69. Then, you can walk to the Terminal 2 in 15min, or take Shganghai Metro Line 2 or Line 10 to the airport in 5min at the cost of CNY3.

Non-stop Coach: about 2h, CNY85

please can you advise the closest/best train to take from wuxi (marriott lihu lake) to shanghai (ritz carlton pudong)

The economic and fast way is to take Wuxi - Shanghai bullet train. From the hotel in Wuxi, you need to take bus no. 82 on Huanhu Rd. to Wuxi Railway Station, take a bullet train there to Shanghai Railway Station. From Shanghai station, take metro line 1 to People's Square, then transfer to line 2 to Lujiazui, Exit 6 out and walk to the southwest to find the hotel.
