They run from/to different stations in both cities:
In Shanghai, about 100 pairs of them, including all D ones, are operated at Hongqiao Railway Station and the others are operated at Main Railway Station. As a big modern metropolitan, city buses and subways are easily accessible at both stations. But the main station is closer to city center than Hongqiao Station. In contrast, Hongqiao Railway Station has more departures and arrivals and it’s just next to Hongqiao Airport, which is very convenient for those who arrive or leave by flight.
In Wuxi, fours railway stations serve for all the arrivals and departures. Most of them are running to/from Main Railway Station; East Station operates almost one fourth of them; and New District Station and Huishan Station operates a few of them. It can be easily found that the Main Railway Station with denser schedule comes first, East Station second, and the other two stations are the last choices. Subway line 1, line 2, and other city buses, airport shuttle bus connect these stations and offer great convenience for travelers.

Coach
Passengers can also travel by coach which takes about 1.5 hour. The coach ticket costs almost the same as that of non-bullet trains. But it is difficult for overseas passengers to buy a coach ticket in advance. When they get to the coach station just before departure, the ticket may be sold out, which will bring you great inconvenience.

Is it possible to get ticket at station at the time of travel without advanced booking?
I am fine with both first class and second class, as long as the train will stop at Wuxi Railway Station, not east. Do you think it is workable to get ticket at station?

If you are also flexible with departure time, it is no problem to get tickets at counter. There should be at least some second class seats left.

You can take bus No. 88 or 89 from the railway station to Lingshan Buddhist Scenic Spot directly, at least 1.5 hours on the way. You can also take a taxi which takes around 1 hours and CNY100.

I think you can consider the long distance bus service. There are buses from PVG to Wuxi, but not much. Seems around every one hour. It takes around 3 hours on the way.
