Shanghai metro line 2 has been in operation since 2000. It is a busy west-east main artery linking East Xujing and Pudong International Airport in the east. Line 2 extends about 64 kilometers (39.8 miles) with 30 stations including many of Shanghai's famous attractions and commercial streets, such as Zhongshan Park, Jing'an Temple, West Nanjing Rd., People's Square, East Nanjing Rd., Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone, Century Park and Zhangjiang High Technology Park, as well as Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport.

Metro Line 2

Special Notes:

1. At Longyang Rd. Station near the east end of Line 2, you can take Shanghai Maglev Train (SMT) to go to Pudong International Airport.
2. Pudong Airport Station of Metro Line 2 is located between T1 and T2. Follow the sign to get to the right terminal.

Ticket

Ticket price ticket between two ends costs CNY 8. It costs CNY 8 between Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport.

Shanghai Pudong To Beijing

I am arriving on a Saturday afternoon at Pudong Airport and want to get to Hongqiao Railway Station. What is the best option?

Do I get the Maglev train to Longyang Road then change train to get to Hongqiao Railway Station?

OR

Should I get Line 2 from Pudong Airport to Hongqiao Railway Station directly?

Metro line 2 connects the two, taking 95min and CNY 8. You can also take maglev to Longyang Road then transfer to line 2, taking about 80min and CNY 56. I think taking line 2 directly is better for the low price.

Peak Hour wait time

How long should I expect to wait to get on a train during evening peak hours? I understand that the intervals are every 6 minutes, but how long will it take to get to the front of the queue?

It's hard to say. The waiting time depends on the stop. But mostly you can get on the second train.

The nearest metro station from Ascott: Huangpi South Road and the nearest one from the Tower A is Songhong Road.
To commute from the hotel, take metro line 14 to Jing'an Temple, transfer to line 2 to Songhong Road, take exit 5, walk westward to the crossing and walk northward to Tower A.

The first from East Nanjing Road is at 06:03 and the interval is 5-11 minutes so the second may be at 06:08 - 06:14.
