Up to now, high speed trains are still not available between Wuhan and Xining. However, there are about 5 pairs of normal speed trains serving between the 2 cities with the duration of about 20 - 27 hours in total. The running distanceof these overnight sleeper trains is about 1,700 - 1,950 km (1,056 - 1,212 mi). The lowest price is CNY 415 for a hard sleeper ticket, and CNY 630 for a soft sleeper ticket. Passengers can also transfer in Xi'an for high speed trains, which can cut down the journey time to about 8 - 10 hours.

For your information, there are high speed railway connecting Wuhan and Xining actually. However, currently, the number of passengers travelling between the 2 cities is not very big, so there is no through bullet trains operated between the 2 cities yet. If the number of passengers of this line keep increasing in the future, China Railway Cooperation may arrange through bullet trains on this line by then.There are 1 - 2 pairs of flights operated between Wuhan and Xining on a daily basis as well. The flight time is only about 2.5 hours in general; and the prices of the tickets normally fluctuating within the range of CNY 600 - CNY 1,500. Thus, passengers are recommended to take a trip by air when there is a discount of the flight tickets or when they have a tight time arrangement. Passengers can also try taking a connecting flight in Xi'an or Chengdu with the total flight time of about 3 - 4 hours.
