What to Wear
Although the China weather in February is a little higher than that of in January, it is still cold in most parts of China. Warm winter clothes are still necessary for tourists in February. It is recommended that you wear warm trousers, padded overcoat, winter coat, padded jacket, thin sweater, hat, scarf, gloves and snow boots. These clothes are not suitable for all areas. Clothes to wear in China in February depend largely on the region or city you’re going to visit.

Beijing & Northeast China

The weather in Northeast China is still cold with more rainfall or snowfall; the temperature mostly stays below 0°C although it may get a little higher during the day. Although the weather in East China begins to turn warm, the cold air can still be felt. At the beginning of this month, the temperature in most areas of east China is still low and it is chilly in the night. For rainfall, there is a decreasing trend in February. One of the best travel destinations in this region in February is Suzhou where you can appreciate the plum in full blossom. We also suggest you visit the Yu Garden in Shanghai or the Qinhuai River in Nanjing to appreciate the lantern show.

The average temperature exceeds 0°C but people feel cold in most cities of Central China. Some cities near the Yangtze River, like Wuhan, are humid and bleak due to the increase of air humidity. In this month, you can travel to Xi’an for the lantern show on the Ancient City Wall or Pingyao for the Shehuo - an ancient form of folk-art festive activity.

The cities in South China are the first to welcome spring in February. Most cities of South China turn warmer and warmer and the rain falls is increasing in this month. Pay more attention: It is still a little cold at night so warm clothes are still needed. To visit the Spring Festival Flower Fair held in Guangzhou is a good choice.
