Zhangjiajie Weather in October

Neither too hot as summer nor too cold as winter, October weather in Zhangjiajie is quite comfortable, making it one of the best times to visit it. The temperature varies from 14°C (57°F) to 23°C (73°F) within a day. People start to feel cold in the morning and at night.

With the arrival of October, the number of visitors in Zhangjiajie gradually decrease, but not as few as it is in off season. However, you’d better avoid visiting here during National Day Holiday, which is from October 1st to 8th in 2025, when the scenic sites receive much more visitors than on usual days. If have to, book the hotels as early as possible.
 

The climate in October of Zhangjiajie is the middle autumn, thus keeping warm is becoming more and more important for people who visit here. You’d better wear long sleeves shirt, thin sweater, jacket, trousers and hiking shoes. As mentioned in other months, raincoat or umbrella is never unnecessary in Zhangjiajie.In middle to late October, some leaves start to turn to yellow, orange or red, making Zhangjiajie a colorful world. Fog and cloud arise around the mountains, canyons and lakes after rain. If you are lucky enough, you can see flush and steamy fogs combining a sea of clouds when visiting the scenic areas, which is really a majestic and impressive picture. You may see sea of the clouds in Tianzi Mountain, Yangjiajie Scenic Area, Tianmen Mountain and many other famous spots.
