How to Travel from Hong Kong Airport to Guangzhou

The distance from Hong Kong airport (HKIA) to Guangzhou is around 170 kilometers (105 miles) and there are 3 ways to travel between:

1. The first choice is to take the Airport Express to Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station and then take a train to arrive in Guangzhou, taking at least HKD350 and 70-80min.

2. Ferries take about 140 minutes. The ticket price is HKD300 for a standard class seat.
Note that the HKIA - Guangzhou ferry is only available for passengers leaving from the airport.

3. Long-distance bus arriving at some hotels in Guangzhou with a travel time of around 3 hours cost HKD230.

1. Fastest Airport Express / Shuttle Bus + Train

Airport Express + High Speed Train: 70-80 minutes, from HKD350

→ Take the Hong Kong Airport Express from Hong Kong International Airport to Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station: 21 minutes, HKD100

→ Take a high speed train from West Kowloon Railway Station to Guangzhou South Railway Station: 50-60 minutes, CNY452 – 645 / HKD528 - 754 for a business class seat, CNY323 – 344 / HKD378 - 402 for a first class seat, and CNY215/ HKD250 for a second class seat

Bus + High Speed Train: 100 - 110 minutes, from HKD290

→ Take the bus line A22 from Hong Kong International Airport to West Kowloon Railway Station: 60 minutes, HKD 40.8

→ Take a bullet train to Guangzhou South Railway Station

2. Alternative Ferry: 140 minutes, from HKD300

Is it possible?

Hello! I will be landing in HKIA at 17:05 on a tuesday and need to get to Guangzhou East. The last train to GZE from West Kowloon departs 20:51. Will I be able to arrive on time for the train? Taking into consideration that I would have to go through immigration and claim baggage at the airport, get to West Kowloon on the airport express and go through customs and immigration at West Kowloon.

Yes, it takes about one hour or so to West Kowloon and normally one hour is enough for the checks at West Kowloon. Also, leave for an hour for arrival procedures in HKIA, you should be able to catch the train leaving at 20:51.

SkyPier to Pazhou

Hello! Please may I know which one is the correct information from HKG Airport SkyPier-Pazhou Ferry Terminal. The timing that I can see from cksp.com.hk the last is 15:30 and the cost is HKD390. Whereas over here your information is HKD300 and timing is 15:00. Please advise. Thank you. Also, we will be arriving 13:45. Do we have time to take ferry to Pazhou? Please advise. Thank you.

The cksp.com is the accurate one because they sell the ticket. You need to get the ferry ticket at E2 counter 60min before the ferry departure. So you have 15min to the counter. Note that you don't need to collect luggage as it will be delivered to the ferry directly.

Luggage on Pazhou ferry to HKIA

When taking the ferry to HKIA, does your luggage get transported directly from the ferry to the terminal drop or do you need to manually check it?

It depends on which airlines you are using. Passengers of some airlines enjoy luggage check through service so they do not need to collect it after the ferry trip and check in again at HKIA.

HKIA to Guangzhou with carry on and checked luggage

I need to get from HKIA to Guangzhou with 2 suitcases. what is the fastest way? Can I bring extra luggage on the high speed train or ferry? how much does that cost?

The ferry takes 130min and CNY 360 and the route HKIA - West Kowloon high speed rail station - West Kowloon to GZ train takes about 3 hours or so considering the checks and CNY 250-300. I recommend the ferry more.
You check in luggage on the plane will be delivered to the ferry directly without extra fee.

Best option to travel HKIA to Shenzhen airport

I'm arriving from Vancouver to HK at 16:05 and have next flight at 21:00 from Shenzhen airport. What is the best option for me to reach Shenzhen airport? Would I be able to catch the ferry?

The ferry to Shenzhen Airport departs at 13:30 and 16:20. I think it's hard for you to catch the ferry. Or you can take a ferry to Shenzhen Shekou Port at 17:00, go through the checks there to enter Shenzhen, then take metro line 12 to Nanshan, transfer to line 11 to the airport. The trip may take about 1.5h but I'm not sure how long the checks at Shekou will take, normally half an hour. I think you could catch the flight.
