To the airport in the early morning, take bus no. N21 at Kowloon Hotel, Nathan Road to the airport, taking 95min and HKD 23.8. From the airport to the hotel in the afternoon, take bus no. A21 to Middle Road, Nathan Road, taking HKD 34.6 and 75min.

Traveling from the airport to West Kowloon takes about one hour and the boarding checks may take about half an hour. You should also give some time to claim the luggage at the airport and find your way to West Kowloon Railway Station. So time is somehow tight.

Since there is no train from HK to Guilin after 12:20, you can take a bullet train at West Kowloon to Shenzhen North, then catch another bullet train to Guilin after 15:00, taking about 3h. Guilin north railway station is closer to the terrace.

Thank you ! How long is the journey from HK airport to the Kowloon station? Do you think it is possible for me to catch the 2.30 pm train from Kowloon to ShenZhen North?

HK - West Kowloon journey may take about one hour or so. There may be a long line in West Kowloon and you will go through both the checks of HK and mainland China, so I advised you to arrive one hour before the departure. Considering you have to collect luggage, to be on the safe side, trains after 15:00 are more recommended.

If I arrive ShenZhen North at 15: 15 hrs via the kowloon train. Do you think there is enough time to catch the 15:24 train to Guilin North?

Kowloon to Airport - somewhat tight timeframe
I am taking train G79 into Hong Kong from Chinese Mainland arriving at approximately 18:00. I have a flight at 1AM so I’d have time to go through customs for up to 3 hours then ideally catch the AirPort Express immediately. Is this possible/smart or should I take a much earlier train (not many options) to have “peace of mind”? I wonder if the trains are ever vastly delayed or if somehow customs might take more than 3.5 hours?

You have enough time to catch your flight. The checks at West Kowloon won't take that long, normally 30-60min and some times no more than 30min. From West Kowloon to the airport, it takes one hour.
