Wulong Xiannvshan Airport
Predicted to serve the public in 2020, Wulong Airport is constructed to meet the annual passenger throughout of 600,000 person-times and the cargo capacity of 1,500 tons. After completion, there will be a runway of 2,800 meters (3062 yards) long and 45 meters (49 yards) wide, a terminal with an area of 6,000 square meters (7175 square yards) and 6 parking aprons. Besides, supporting equipment like communication, navigation, meteorology, oil supply, fire rescue and other auxiliary productive facilities can also be put into service.
Location
Wulong Airport will be built in Xiannvshan Town, Wulong District, Chongqing Municipality, which will be about 45 kilometers (about 28 miles) from Wulong District and about 5.5 kilometers (about 2.4 miles) from Xi'an’nv Mountain National Forest Park.

Wulong Airport will run domestic flights to/from major cities including Beijing, Guangzhou, Changsha, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Xi’an, Guiyang… In addition, Wulong Xi'an’nvshanshan Airport is a critical part to constitute the natural heritage and cultural heritage tourism air route of “Zhangjiajie – Wulong – Jiuzhaigou – Lijiang – Kunming”. And then it will take just 50 minutes flying to/from Zhangjiajie, 60 minutes to/from Jiuzhaigou, 1h and 20 minutes to/from Kunming and 40 minutes to/from Chengdu.
How to Get to Wulong District Now
Option 1: Transfer at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport
Step 1: Get to Chongqing Jiangbei Airport
Chongqiang Jiangbei Airport, about 19 kilometers (about 12 miles) to downtown Jiangbei and 165 kilometers (102.5 miles) to Wuling District, runs flights to/from domestic cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Changsha, Kunming, Qingdao, Xi’an, Tianjin… and international destinations such as Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, Da Nang, Moscow …
Step 2: Take Chongqing Metro or a Taxi to Chongqing West Railway Station
1: Metro Line 2: If you are at T2 in the airport, you can take metro line 2 from No.3 entrance to the South Square of Chongqiang West Railway Station, which operates from 06:30 to 22:30 every 8 minutes. This way can spend you CNY 5 and about 40 minutes.
2: Metro Line 10: You can take metro line 10 from No.3 entrance at T3, and then get off at West Square of Chongqing West Railway Station. This metro line runs from 06:33 to 22:52 with a frequency of 8 minutes. This method can take you about 30 minutes and CNY 4.
3: Taking a taxi is also a good choice, by which you can take about 50 minutes and cost CNY 60.
Step 3: Take Trains from Chongqing West Railway Station to Wulong District
There are 5 trains from Chongqing West Railway Station to Wulong District which depart at 07:25, 07:45, 15:07, 19:06 and 19:45 respectively with the travel time about 2h and 10 minutes to 3.5 h. You can book a stand-room-only ticket and hard seat of CNY 21.5 – 24.5, a hard sleeper of CNY 70.5 and a softer sleeper of CNY 108.5.
Option 2: Transfer at Qianjiang Wulingshan Airport
Step 1: Get to Qiangjiang Wulingshan Airport First
Qingjiang Wulingshan Airport is about 128 kilometers (79.5 miles) to Wuling District from which you can take flights to Chongqing, Wenzhou, Hangzhou, Changsha, Beijing, Kunming and Qingdao.
Step 2: Take City Bus or a Taxi from Qianjiang Airport to Qianjiang Railway Station
1: Take city bus 205 from airport to Xiaba Jumindian, then walk about 225 meters to Zhengyang Minzu Yiyuan bus stop and take city bus line 206 to Qianjiang Railway Station. This method can take you 50 minutes and CNY 3 in total.
2: If going there by taxi, you will take CNY 30 and about 35 minutes.
Step 3: Take Trains from Qianjiang Railway Station to Wulong District
There are about 5 trains available each day that operating from 09:25 to 14:45. You can book hard seat, hard sleeper and soft sleeper ticket at CNY 16.5 – 18.5, CNY 64.5 and CNY 97.5 respectively. The journey will take you 1.5 hours to 2h 10 minutes.
