Many travelers flow into Pingyao in order to enjoy the beauty of this famous ancient city. For the passengers who get off at Pingyao Ancient City Railway Station which is 8.5 kilometers (5.3 miles away from the scenic area of the Ancient City, they can directly take bus no.108 to arrive there with a duration of about 30 minutes and the fare is CNY 1. For the passengers who get off at Pingyao Railway Station, they just need to walk about 10 minutes to reach this ancient city.

Why there are only 9 trains from Taiyuan to Pingyao in February?

Recently China Railway Company is making adjustment of train schedule. For this trip, many trains are not available for sale at this time for trip since Jan, 2020. You may wait some more days for an update. Once trains back for sale, we will update schedule on our website too.

Can people stay in Taiyuan train station for overnight?

I am planning to take a late night train to Taiyuan South and I will also have a trip to Jinan from main station the next day early morning. Do you think I can stay at the railway station for one night?

If you refer to the main station, it should be fine. I think this station opens 24 hours. It should be no problem to stay inside if you have a paper ticket for that day.

Can I collect the tickets all together in Taiyuan South Station?

I will have 4 train trips: Taiyuan to Pingyao to Xi'an to Luoyang to Shanghai. Can I collect all the tickets in one time? How early should I be at the station for ticket collection of all trips?

Yes, it is no problem to collect all tickets in one go at the first station. It is free of charge. Do remember to keep the pick up numbers of all trips with you, and passports too! To avoid any possible delay, it would be better if you get there around 1.5 hours in advance.

Which station is closer to Pingyao ancient town?

Is hard seat acceptable for a 1.5 hours trip? Or it is more recommended to use high speed rides?

Pingyao Railway Station is closer in distance, you can walk to reach the ancient town. Hard seat carriage can be crowded and the seat is less comfortable then second class seat. But a for 1.5 hours trip, it is still acceptable by most travelers. The high speed station is also not too far, about 20min driving. You can compare the time and distance for final decision.
