Jiayuguan Railway Station is connected with trains to/from Beijing, Shanghai, Lanzhou, Xi’an, Chongqing, Chengdu and etc.

It is about 5 kilometers (3 miles) from city center and about 7 kilometers (4 miles) from Jiayuguan Great Wall and 13 kilometers (8 miles) from Jiayuguan Airport.

How to Get to Jiayuguan Railway Station

Three bus stops can be found near the railway station. Passengers can take city bus 1, 4, 11 North Circle Line, 11 South Circle Line and 12 to the Railway Station Bus Stop; city bus 1, 4 and 12 to Jiawen Road Crossing Bus Stop; or city bus 2, 4 and 11 North Circle to Baima Apartment Bus Stop.

How to Get to Jiayuguan Great Wall from Jiayuguan Railway Station

Passengers can take city bus 4 to get there directly, costing CNY 1. It may take about one and half an hour on the way.

Passengers can also take a taxi to get there directly. The fare is about CNY 30 and the duration is about half an hour.

More commonly, visitors charter a car to visit the Jiayuguan Great Wall, The First Fire Tower of the Great Wall and the Overhanging Great Wall in one day, which costs CNY 150-200.

How to Get to Jiayuguan South Railway Station from Jiayuguan Railway Station

Take city bus 12 to get there directly.

Or get there by taxi, the fare is about CNY 20 and it may take about 15 minutes to get there.

How to Get to Jiayuguan Airport from Jiayuguan Railway Station

Passengers can take city bus 1 to Social Conflict Mediation Centre (Shehui Maodun Tiaojie Zhongxin), walk north and turn right at the first crossing, keep walking for about 100 meters (110 yards) to Xiongguan Commercial Building to take the airport bus to Jiayuguan International Airport. The ticket fare is about CNY 15 and it may take about 1 hour and 30 minutes to get there. The shuttle bus departs based on flight schedule.

Or passengers can get to the airport by taxi which costs about 30 minutes. The fare is about CNY 50.

Railway schedules

My wife and I will take a train from Jiayuguan to Urumqi to visit the vast desert, I checked from your website and found three schedules, do they depart daily?

Yes, almost all domestic trains depart daily. Your mentioned three schedules are all high speed rails, right? The three schedules all leave from Jiayuguan South station and take about 6-5.5 hours. Some other normal trains leave from Jiayuguan station and they take more times. Please check your schedule and choose a proper one.

Only midnight and early morning train to Dunhuang?

If so, can I stay overnight at Jiayuguan station?

For normal train type, no afternoon trains. But you can transfer to South Station for afternoon high speed rides at 12:36 and 18:18. If you have a ticket booked from this Jiayuguan station at morning time, you can stay overnight in the waiting hall.

Do not know about the hotel in walking distance, there is a Plaza Holiday Inn which is about 2km away.

Train station services

Any lagguge storage service in Jiayuguan station ? I am taking the HSR from Zhangye to Jiayuguan for a short stop. Plan to keep lagguge at the railway station.

There is left luggage office in Jiayuguan Railway Station, some shops and ticket agent around also offer such service. But if you will use the HSR service, I think you will land at the South Station instead. I am not sure if there is left luggage office in south station, but most stations offer such service.
