Xi'an - Luoyang Train

Currently, there are about 80 pairs of high speed trains serving passengers between Xi'an and Luoyang. With the travel time of 1 - 2 hours, these bullet trains make a day trip between the two ancient capitals possible. It costs CNY 174.5 (USD 25) to purchase a second class seat ticket.

Normal speed trains are also available, taking 4.5 - 6.5 hours.

Do I still need to give information of my son if he will sit with me?

I read he can travel for free but do I still give you his passport information for register?

If the child is under 120cm and will share seat with you, you do not need to offer passport information of child passenger. Your son can board train directly with you. Hope this information can help you.

Hi, we are wondering if we can change to earlier trains or later trains?

We will head to Xi'an after visiting Longmen Grottoes. We are not sure if 3 hours is enough for us there or it is too much? If we finished earlier or later than our expectation, can we change the train time also? Is there any charge? Thank you.

Tickets can be change one time if there are available seats on the earlier or later one wanted. You can hold paper tickets and ask for change at station ticket counter. If the new ticket price is the same as your original one, the change can be changed for free. If the new ticket price is higher, there could be a fee 20% of ticket price occurs. If all seats were fully booked, you will not able to make the change. Hope for your advanced notice.

I want to book two way high speed train. How much time do i need to visit Longmen Grottoes?

It depends on how deep you would like to go. 2 to 4 hours are all possible. By the way, you need to consider the time to transfer on the way. If you plan to travel by rail, you also need some extra time at station for boarding process.

Book in advance or on spot

Hi, i’ll be travelling from xian to luoyang by speed train next week. Is it advisable to buy tickets on spot or book in advance?

If you are traveling around May 01 to 04, you would need to buy the ticket in advance as it is a holiday time.

Hello, I want to go for Luoyang for one night in mid-April

I am a little concerned if my flight to Xi'an delayed and I will miss the train to Luoyang. In case it happens, am I able to change to next train instead? Am I able to change return ticket as well in Xi'an North Station? Is there any fees?

If you do miss the one you booked, you can ask for change at station ticket counter. If there is available seats on the later one, you can make the change. The tickets can only be changed one time! If the new ticket price is the same, there is no extra fee, but if there is a price difference, you need to pay for it. You can change the return trip ticket together at one time.
