Tip:
Both G2855 and G2856 have a stop at Guilin North Railway Station, too. Guilin Station is closer to city center while Guilin North Station has more high speed trains to/from other cities. If you are staying in downtown, Guilin Station is recommended; if you are transferring from/ to other bullet trains, Guilin North Station would be more preferred.
If you are very tight in schedule and even the high speed ride cannot meet your needs, you may choose flight instead. There are around 6 pairs of flights a day and they only take around 2 hours. Although the flight ticket price is much higher, during off-season there can be good discount offered by the airline and the flight ticket price will be competitive. Travelers can check both flight and rail service by date for a better arrangement.

Xi'an Airport line to downtown
May I know the time of this airport line? Should I book tickets online or I need to buy it at airport station?

You do not need and also cannot buy a ticket online. You just need to buy ticket at the counter after your landing there. This Airport Express service begins at 6am and ends at 11pm. The cost would be CNY16 and takes around 30min to reach Xi'an North Station. Then you can change to other lines to your place.

Departure station to choose in Guilin.
I see that the train G2856 stops at both stations in Guilin at 11:12 and 11:27. I am thinking this one is more convenient if I booked Green Forest Hotel at Binjiang Bei Road?

I think the North Station is a bit closer in distance, but not much difference. You can take bus No. 32 directly or taxi is also good to use.

There is only one train from Xi'an North to Gulin daily, since all tickets in China are under great demands, you'd better book in advance to secure a seat for you.

What does this "Guilin" mean?
Is there any afternoon trains to reach Guilin in late evening/night?

It refers to Guilin Railway Station, the one in city center area and named by the city's name. There is no bullet ride in afternoon, only an overnight slow trip. Maybe you can consider to take an afternoon ride to Guiyang and stay there for one night and then take the next early morning one to Guilin. It is still faster than overnight slow ride.

As I know this D1710 is in pending status now as they railway is making adjustment. It used to go through Guiyang and Chongqing I think. Not sure if it will still run for this route later.
