Suzhou - Harbin Train

There are only 4 pairs of direct trains in operation between Harbin and Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. Only one is high speed train and the rest 3 are normal trains. Covering a long distance of 2,341 kilometers (1,455 miles), it still takes around 12 - 12.5 hours by high speed type and 23 to 39.5 hours by normal speed trains. Travelers who choose normal speed rides are highly recommended to book the tickets in advance to guarantee a sleeper bed. Sitting still on hard seat for over one day could be very tiring and suffering.

G1204/ G1202 are the only high speed rides running on this route. They originate at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Harbin West Railway Station respectively. The trains only stop in Suzhou North Railway Station for 2 minutes, thus passengers are recommended to make preparation in advance to board or get off.
 

Running Route

The running route of these two high speed rides can be mainly divided into 3 parts:
 Suzhou - Tianjin Section: It runs on the famous Beijing - Shanghai High Speed Railway. This section covers stopovers including Changzhou North, Zhenjiang South, Nanjing South, Chuzhou, Bengbu South, Xuzhou EastJinan West, Dezhou East and Tianjin West.

 Tianjin - Shenyang Section: The ride follows Tianjin - Qinhuangdao - Shenyang High Speed Railway, passing through Binhai North, Tangshan, Qinhuangdao, Shanhaiguan, Panjin North, Shenyang North.

 Shenyang - Harbin Section: The ride runs on part of Dalian - Harbin High Speed Railway. The stopovers are Kaiyuan West, Changtu West, Changchun West

Normal Speed trains depart/arrive at Harbin West Railway Station and Suzhou Railway Station, which is near city center area and can be easily reached by subway line 2, line 4, city buses and long distance buses. In Harbin, there are many different stations, including Harbin Railway Station, East Station, West Station, North Station and Xiangfang Station. Travelers need to be aware of their departure station to avoid unnecessary trouble on the day of travel.
 

Other ways to transfer between

 By Rail: If there is no ticket available on the direct train you need or the time cannot fit your schedule, you may choose to make a transfer at Beijing or Tianjin first and then to your final destination. There are more departures a day for Suzhou-Beijing/Tianjin and Beijing/Tianjin-Harbin routes.

 By Flight: For a long distance trip, flight is also a frequently used option. Currently there is no flight service in Suzhou, however, travelers can reach Shanghai first for a transfer. Usually there are over 20 flights a day and most of them use Pudong International Airport.
