The bullet trains finish the running distance of about 26 - 40 kilometers (16 - 25 miles) in around 14-29 minutes. The ticket fare for a second class seat is CNY 68 from Shenzhen Futian Railway Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and CNY 75 between Shenzhen North and West Kowloon.

Shenzhen - Hong Kong Bullet Train vs. Bus vs. Metro vs. Ferry

From Shenzhen to Hong Kong, the best way is to take high speed trains and it takes only 14-29 minutes. A large number of departures also ensure that passengers can leave for Hong Kong at any time.

Shenzhen – Hong Kong buses offer many choices of pick-up points and arrival points, more flexible for passengers to different destinations in Hong Kong. Generally, the cost is around CNY 45 - 150 (USD 6 - 31) for a 1 - 2h single journey.

Taking metro is also available. Nevertheless, it takes a longer time, about two hours, but it is also the cheapest way, less than CNY 30 (USD 4).

Luggage Allowance for Shenzhen – Hong Kong High Speed Train

For passengers taking high speed trains from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, at most 20 kg of luggage can be taken by adults freely, 10 kg for children (including kids on free rides), and 35 kg for diplomats. The overweight luggage is generally charged CNY 20 per kg. Please note that, according to the official document, the total dimensions (length + width + height) of each item should not exceed 130 cm (generally a 24-inch-size suitcase). There is no limit on the number of luggage.

However, in practice, there is generally no problem for passengers to take even a 28-inch-size suitcase. Unless it is too large, passengers don’t need to worry too much about their luggage size.

From Shenzhen a day trip to HK

Hi, is it easy to make a day trip from Shenzhen to Hongkong? Will it be an issue to leave and re-enter China on the same day? We are planning to make a trip in China using the visa-free travel within 15 days.

Yes, it's easy. It won't be an issue for German eligible for the 15-day visa free entry.

Shenzen to HK

Hi, in a couple of days I will arrive in Shenzen and from I have to move to HK to catch a flight to Thailand, I read online that with my passport (ITALY) there is no need for visa either for China or HK , can you confirm? Thank you

Yes, you are free of visa to China Mainland and also HK.

entering HK with passport without chinese visa

hi, will they check my chinese visa when exiting Shenzen to enter HK? I am holding 2 valid passports of my country. My chinese visa are in the passport which expires in less than 6 months. So I plan to enter HK with the new one but there are no chinese visa in this passport. I will have both passport with me.

Your visa will be checked when exiting. Maybe you can exit Chinese mainland with the passport having Chinese visa and enter HK with another passport.

Shenzhen to HK

Hi,

Is there any authorized train that i can take to exit China from Shenzhen to Hong Kong if i´m there with the 144 hours free transit visa?

Recently, HK West Kowloon High Speed Station was set to be an eligible railway port to exit Mainland China, but there hasn't been a living example at present. So I advise you to give up taking a bullet train from Shenzhen, but to exit at Shekou Port and take ferry to HK to ensure a smooth trip.

Transfer of train

Hello there, I will be taking the 07:03 train from Hong Kong West Kowloon and will arrive at Shenzhen North at 07:21. Which platform number will the train arrive at? I have 10 mins to board the 07:31 train from Shenzhen North to Xiamen.

Does the train depart at the same platform or do I have to walk to another platform? If yes, which platform number? Will I be able to make it within 10 mins? Appreciate your advice.

I'm afraid it is not the same platform and you need to check your train tickets. Anyway, it is basically impossible to transfer in such a short time because the train station will stop checking tickets 5 minutes before departure. It is suggested to change your train ticket.
