Haikou Railway Station

Haikou Railway Station is about 0.6 miles (1 kilometer) from the western shore and about 12.5 miles (20 kilometers) from the Haikou downtown area. Endowed with a unique natural landscape, the station is reputed to be the first ecotype railway Station in China. Meanwhile, due to geographic location restriction on Hainan Island, the station has fewer trains in service than in other cities. It mainly operates normal speed trains running via Yuehai Railway to inland places, including Changsha, Harbin, Beijing, Zhengzhou, Xi'an and Shanghai.

Haikou Train Station has the largest square in China, with an area of over 37 acres (150,000 square meters). In the square, there are parking lots for taxis, public buses and private cars. Passengers can use these transportation tools to reach and leave the train station.

The two-story station building faces to the east. At the north end of the station, there is a Ticket Office, and in the south is the General Service Center. In the middle is the station Entrance/Exit.

In Haikou Railway Station, there are four hard-seat waiting rooms and a soft-seat/sleeper waiting room. There are also waiting rooms for Mother & Baby, Military Service Men and a VIP room.  The VIP Room charges an extra fee. Near the station Exit, there is a left-luggage counter. You can deposit your luggage there, for a charge of CNY 5 per piece per day.

Either of the public buses No. 28, 35, 37, 40 and 57 can lead to the station square directly.

1. → To Haikou East Railway Station
Use the bus No. 35, via 38 stops and get off at Shangao Cunkou Station, and walk about 240 yards to the east train station.

2. → To Meilan International Airport
Take the bus No. 35 and get off at 187 Hospital Station, where you can transfer to the bus No.21 to the airport.

3. → To Holiday Beach
Either of the buses No. 40, 35, 37, 28 and 57 can leads to the Holiday Beach, the hottest scenic spot in Haikou.
