After you reach Kaili South Station, you can walk to a long distance bus station nearby, just in walking distance. There are buses to the Miao village. I used to see buses at 9:20, 10:30, 12;30, 14;00, 15;10 and 17:30. I am not sure if they still runs in this schedule, just for your reference.

2.5 hours train ride with hard seat
Is there any one who experienced with hard seat? I do prefer to use the main station in Guiyang and Kaili, but there are only slow trains. Is hard seat a good option? I heard the carriage can be really crowded? Is it necessary to buy a sleeper bed?

Hard seat carriage did can be crowded some time but if not a holiday time, it is not as bad as it shows on the photos on the website. For a short trip, I think it is manageable. A sleeper bed in day time and a short trip is not very useful. You may not use the bed at all, especially if you get an upper bed.

This South Station is indeed a little far from the town, at Jinhui Ave. about 20km from the town. If you take a bus, it may take around 1 hour and around 30min by car.
