The railway distance between Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and Phan Thiet is about 187km (116 miles), and travel time by train is about 4 hours. Luxury tourist train is not available on this line. On most days, there is only one Reunification Expresses each day from Saigon to Phan Thiet, departs in early morning, then the same train get back to Saigon in the afternoon. While on weekends or some public holidays, there might be one or two trains added to transfer more travelers.

The train SPT1/2 on this line is operated by Saigon Railways, which is a dedicated train running between Saigon and Phan Thiet, offering easy transfer to Mui Ne. There are some of the carriages are double-deck and some are single-deck, and you could only experience double-deck train on this line. Soft and hard seats are provided on the train. All carriages are air-conditioned with the comfortable seats.

From Phan Thiet to Mui Ne, you could take taxi, there are many taxies waiting outside the railway station, so it is not hard to get one. The cost is about USD13-17 (320,000 - 380,000 VND), and takes about 20min. You could also take the local red bus No. 9, the ticket fare is USD1 (20,000 VND), takes about 30min.

 

Travel Tips to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne


The distance from Phan Thiet to Mui Ne is about 20km and takes less than 30min by taxi.
Recent year, the coast line between Phan Thiet and Mui Ne was developed to an attractive holiday resort area. It is definitely different from the modern life in the prosperous city, you will enjoy the peaceful and relax feeling.

"Mui Ne" means a haven in Vietnamese, the sea in the fishing village is very peaceful. The fishing village of Mui Ne still maintains its most primitive appearance, simple and natural. There are many colorful fishing boats docked on the shore. It is a good choice to come here to watch the sunset in the evening.

The Red Sand Dune is close to the coast, with soft sands and varied colored bands, attracting many tourists to take pictures here. There are freshwater lakes in the heart of the desert, surrounded by tall and heavy tropical jungle vegetation, which makes travelers to amazing at nature's supernatural craftsmanship. You can also step on plastic skateboards and slide down the steep sand dunes, experience the excitement of sandboarding.

Flowing through the east of Mui Ne, Fairy Stream is hidden in dense woods, set against the blue sky and white clouds. Among the sand dunes and rocks, the scenery is very unique and shocking. Walking in the stream, there are soft red sands are under your feet and shallow water flowing over your ankles, just like taking a foot spa and also sweep away the heat of Mui Ne. Since you will walk in the Fairy Stream by barefoot, so shorts, skirts and slippers are the most convenient fit out. Along the small gorge where the stream flows, you can walk around the entire scenic spot in about 20 minutes.

At the central Mui Ne beach where the waves are relatively large, you can experience extreme marine sports, such as kite surfing, sailing, surfing, Stand-up Paddle and so on.
