Clothes and shoes: As the temperature rises, you can carry some spring clothes. For example, you can wear jeans or sweatpants plus a hoodie or a thick shirt. Then, put on a thin jacket like a trench coat or baseball jacket outside. However, the mornings and evenings are colder, especially at the beginning of the month, and you may go to scenic spots of high altitudes, such as the Primitive Forests of the Jiuzhaigou Valley, so it’s recommended that you carry a thin downcoat or a thick windbreaker, as well as thermal pants. Moreover, light-colored clothes are more suitable for taking photos. As for shoes, remember to bring lightweight and comfortable sneakers, walking shoes, or casual shoes.

Other items: The weather is changeable in April, so always remember to bring a raincoat or an umbrella when you go out. Moreover, you need to carry hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen so as to be well protected from the strong UV rays.

What to Do and Visit in Jiuzhaigou Valley in April

1. In April, the water of lakes and waterfalls in Jiuzhaigou melt, so you can see clear, sparkling, mirror-like blue lakes and spectacular waterfalls, like Arrow Bamboo Lake and Shuzheng Waterfall.

2. When it rains in the low-altitude areas, it may snow in the high-altitude areas like the Long Lake. So even in April in Jiuzhaigou, you may see snow views.

3. Though the temperature increases, you still have a chance to enjoy the white snow-covered peaks. The most recommended viewing spot in Jiuzhaigou is the Long Lake.

4. Primitive Forest, which has been closed for several months, reopens in this month. You can hike here to see several hundred-year-old fir and spruce trees and breathe extremely fresh air. Moreover, you can see snow-covered peaks at a closer distance.

5. This month, peach blossoms are in full bloom, bringing the colors of spring to Jiuzhaigou. If you want to admire peach blossoms in 2025, you are advised to travel to Jiuzhaigou Valley in the first half month of April.

6. With the not-cold Jiuzhaigou climate and fewer visitors, April is a suitable time to experience Tibetan costumes and take special and beautiful pictures.
