Since Jiuzhaigou is located at a high altitude, it has not-so-hot weather even in summer like August. As you can see, the temperature differences are a little large and you need to prepare an additional thin jacket for cold moments. What to Pack to Visit Jiuzhaigou in August

Females: Because the temperature is relatively high at noon, you can wear dresses, or T-shirts plus light jeans. Moreover, to protect yourself against the cold mornings and nights, you can bring a sun-protective jacket or a thin wrap.

Males: According to Jiuzhaigou climate this month, you are recommended to wear T-shirts or short shirts plus light pants, then, wear a thin jacket outside, which can be taken off conveniently when the temperature rises.

Shoes: Walking shoes and other lightweight and non-slip sneakers or casual shoes are recommended. Besides, you’d better bring dark-colored ones which are not easy to get dirty on rainy days. Alternatively, you can carry waterproof shoe covers.

Accessories: With high altitude, Jiuzhaigou has strong UV rays all year round, especially in summer times like August. So, be sure to bring UV protection items like sunglasses, sunhats, and sunscreen. Besides, you need to prepare raincoats or umbrellas. Raincoat may be a better choice when you go to the a-little-crowded Jiuzhaigou Valley this month, which is more convenient and safer.

1. As it is the wet season, the waterfalls and the lakes are more spectacular and beautiful with abundant water.

2. Jiuzhaigou weather is pleasant at this time, much cooler than many other travel destinations in China, so making it a great summer resort.

3. In August, except for the lakes and waterfalls, you can see various flourishing plants and active animals here, and the beauty and vibrancy of nature are on full display.

Recommended Things to Do in Jiuzhaigou Valley in August

Because of the advantages mentioned above, in August, it’s worth spending two days hiking Jiuzhiagou Valley. On the first day, you can take a bus to Primitive Forest and then hike toward Swan Lake, during which you will see the unique landscape of alpine meadows and streams along the way. Walking from Arrow Bamboo Lake to Panda Lake, you will see the turquoise blue lake and mountains covered by dark green forests. After that, walk from Five Flower Lake to Mirror Lake, during which process you will see fish swimming in the clear water and the magnificent 21-meter-high (69 feet) Pearl Shoal Waterfall. After break, you can go to sparking Colorful Pond, and the Long Lake which seems to stretch forever.

The next morning, you can take a bus to Nourilang and then hike to Tiger Lake, Shuzheng Waterfalls, and Shuzheng Village. At this time, these places may be less crowded, which is great for listening to the sound of streams. After that, walk toward Double Dragons Lake, and you will see various lakes on the left and lush forest on the right.
