Changsha Transportation -- Getting Around
Currently, Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 4 and Line 5 are in service in Changsha metro system. By 2020, the city will have a metro system of about 234 kilometers (146 miles), occupying 40% of the city's public transportation. According to plan, the city will have 12 metro lines, measuring about 456 kilometers (283 miles) long with 333 stations.
City-Bus
Public Bus:
Public bus routes serve all parts of Changsha City and its suburbs and there is a choice of ordinary buses or those with air-conditioner. Fares are CNY1 or 2.
The Hong Kong based Lishan Bus line operates a service between the railway station in the east of the city and Central South University via the famous Mount Yuelu but we would recommend that your best choice is the air conditioned vehicles as they are far more comfortable in the hot weather.

Three special tourist bus routes operate in the city and a ticket priced at CNY1 for a single trip and CNY3 can be used for a round-trip. These routes are as follows:

Taxi
The charge standard of taxi in the daytime: CNY8 is charged for the first 1.2 mi (2 km). CNY2 is charged for each succeeding 0.6 mi (1 km) between 1.2 and 8 mi (2-13 km). If running over 8 mi (13 km), surcharge for an empty run is charged, CNY3 for each 0.6 mi (1 km).
The nighttime standard applies to the period of 22:00 - 05:30 the next day: It costs CNY10 for the first 1.2 mi (2 km), and CNY2.4 for each succeeding 0.6 mi (1 km) between 1.2 to 8 mi (2 - 13 km). CNY3.6 is charged for each 0.6 mi (1 km) if over 8 mi (13 km) for the empty return.
Note: If passengers take the same taxi to return with the single journey over 8 mi (13 km), only one way empty-return fee is required. For long-distance journeys to the nearby towns and areas, it is always best to ask for a quote prior to commencing your journey, because drivers usually don’t charge by the meter under this circumstance.
