How to Plan a Private Tour to Zhangjiajie?
Generally speaking, at least 3 days/ 2 nights are needed to visit the core area of Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Scenic Area, the Grand Canyon, and/ or the Tianmen Mountain. If you get 4 days/ 3 nights, that will be perfect to see more highlights. For a tour of 5 days or more, a trip to the ancient town of Furong or Fenghuang can be added. Where Should I Book Accommodation in Zhangjiajie?
To travel in Zhangjiajie, the main scenic spots are in and around the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, which is 33 kilometers (20.5 miles) away from the downtown Zhangjiajie. It takes around 40 minutes by car. So usually most visitors will stay at the hotels near the East Gate of the forest park. It is also close to the Wulingyuan Town, where there are many hotels and restaurants available. To choose a hotel here, please aware that the receptionists in most hotels cannot speak English, which is quite different from hotels in big cities. If you worry about the communication problems while staying there, you may consider to stay at the Pullman Zhangjiajie Hotel. It is a 5-star hotel with good value and their reception staff can speak good English. There is also a Crowne Plaza hotel before, but now it has become the Neodalle Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Hotel.
The famous Tianmen Mountain and 72 Qilou Buildings are nearly in the city area of Zhangjiajie, so to visit them, you are suggested to stay at hotels in Zhangjiajie city, which will be more convenient.
Furong and Fenghuang are the two ancient towns around Zhangjiajie. A day or a half day trip is possible to Furong town from Zhangjiajie city, but if you want to visit its beautiful night scenery, you may stay one night there. To Fenghuang, usually one night stay is needed since it is bit far from Zhangjiajie. Visitors going there enjoy its night scenes much more.
How to Get to Zhangjiajie?
Many flights to Zhangjiajie are scheduled in the early morning or in the evening. Direct flights are available from cities of Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Nanjing.
High-speed train are also a good way to enter and depart from Zhangjiajie now. The cities of Changsha, Guilin, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong all have high speed trains to Zhangjiajie. It is very convenient for you to plan a trip there.
Is it difficult to visit Zhangjiajie with seniors or children?
No, traveling in Zhangjiajie is not difficult for seniors or children who are fit and capable of doing moderate physical activities. The scenic area is well-equipped with sightseeing cars and cableways. Although there involves a bit hiking to enjoy the mountain sceneries, you may decide to hike long or short according to physical conditions. The roads and steps to the major sights are reasonably good to walk.
