The experience in Beijing was absolutely fantastic, and our tour guide, Mike, truly made the day unforgettable! We had an amazing time exploring the city's rich history and culture. This trip is a must-do, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting. A special thanks to our driver for ensuring a safe journey and to everyone who made this trip memorable!

Well-paced tour with great views
We began the day getting picked up by our tour guide Kevin and our driver. Kevin was friendly and humorous, and throughout the tour he gave detailed commentary on what we were looking at.
Our group (about 10 people) started off at Tiananmen Square. After a short trip through the square we toured the forbidden city. In my opinion, February is an excellent time to visit because it is significantly less crowded. I’ve been there recently in April/May and it can be claustrophobic with just how dense the crowd is.
After the forbidden city, we were driven to the Mutianyu location of the Great Wall. Given the season, it was nearly empty, which I personally prefer.
We grabbed a quick lunch at a buffet before the group split up for about 2 hours. I ended up taking a cable car up the wall (ticket not included), and the views from up top were incredible. From the top, you can hike a bit along the wall (be aware, it is very steep in some places and the stairs can be difficult to navigate for some). Again, there were very few people on the wall which was great. After rendezvousing we got back into the van and headed back to our hotel.
Overall this was a very enjoyable experience. I did not feel rushed nor did I feel like were moving too slowly.
I would definitely recommend this tour if you want a 1 day medium-paced walking tour of some of Beijing’s “must-sees.”

Informative fun activity
We had an amazing experience with Kevin as our tour guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the culture and history, answering all our questions with great insight. He was also very polite, helpful, and made sure everyone felt comfortable. The small group size made it easy to interact, and the trip to the Great Wall and Forbiten City was well-organized from start to finish. Also, prepare for walking around 15K + steps. Highly recommend!

Amazing guide fab day would thoroughly recommend both Carol and the company. Lots of communication in advance great.
We had an excellent day Carol was brilliant saving us time going around the different exhibitions and providing lots of background information not just about the exhibits but also the wider history. We were able to fit in everything we wanted to see in Xi’an including a whistle stop tour of the local culture and got a really great feel for the city. It was so useful having an English guide especially when getting lunch and coffee etc. we would definitely use Carol and the company again. Mr Chen our driver was always on time to pick us up and having him and the car was invaluable. Thanks for making our trip to Xi’an and the Terracotta Army so memorable.

Fantastic must see Xi’an sites with amazing tour guide
I did the Mini Group Xian Day Tour to Terracotta Army, City Wall, Pagoda and Muslim Bazaar with Lily.
The service provided by Lily was just fantastic. I had some issues with getting to the location on time (as I was taking a train from Guangzhou to Beijing). They were able to put me in touch with Lily the day before and we were able to adjust the pick up time for me to be able to join the tour.
On the drive to the Terracotta Army Lily gave us a brief history of the dynasties that we were exploring that day.
The scale of the excavation happening at the Terracotta Army just blew me away. It has always been one of my top visit places and it was well worth it. We spent a few hours there walking around with Lily explaining things to us. The potential of what is still buried and yet to be uncovered and explored is unfathomable. It is just the tip of the iceberg as Lily said. After we finished exploring the sites, Lily took us to a restaurant to have lunch
Our next stop was the Big Goose Pagoda. Lily walked us around and gave us a brief history. It was a very peaceful place.
Our next stop was the City Wall. It is incredible that the city wall is still intact in its entirety. You are able to walk (8 hours) or cycle (3 hours) around it.
Next our group split up as some people needed to catch a train and other went back to their hotel. Lily took me to the Muslim Bazaar. I had been looking forward to it all do and couldn’t wait to eat some street food. As soon as you entered the street you are immersed in the delicious smell food. There were so many options. I ended up trying a famous Xi’an food/snack - Roujiamo (Chinese hamburger with meat), Candied fruit (tanghulu), and another famous Xian food/snack - Cake Caldron (Zeng Gao).
I had some time before I had to get my flight to Guangzhou and Lily and I sat and had a coffee at Starbucks. I had a lovely chat with her for a couple of hours and she was able to explain a lot of the Chinese customs I had questions about, and just talking in general. She has been the best tour guide I have ever had on a tour.

Well organized itinerary with amazing Helen
It was a well organized itinerary with an amazing tour guide Helen. She explained the history and context behind most sights and gave plenty of time to self explore. Even her recommendations on lunch food, other places to visit were great. Do yourself a favour - book this trip if you are looking for a combo trip to Forbidden city and Great Wall of China. Best use of your time and money.

LJ great English speaking guide of Zhangjaijie
This is a review of our Zhangjjajie portion of a longer 11 day personal China tour with Marco Polo Tours. We were assigned LJ as guide and were asked if it would be ok if Daniel joined us as he was training. Some technical difficulty reaching LJ prior to arrival, but once cleared up LJ very responsive to communications via WeChat. LJ and driver met us late night at train station and drove us to hotel which was Harmony Resort. Some issues there as we are in off season, but overall, nice. The next morning we met LJ, Daniel and driver in lobby and went to Glass bridge and Bailong lake. LJ picked a nice place for lunch afterwards and we asked to go to market for snacks which was not a problem. The evening was to ourselves. We had a massage at hotel spa. The next day we did the National park. That was well paced and LJ was entertaining and informative. Daniel acted as our personal photographer. we declined going out to lunch and asked to stop at market for snacks again before being dropped back at hotel for evening. The next day we went to Heaven’s Gate before being dropped at train station for our next destination. LJ was very clear on timing and options available. We chose to take a shorter walking route and escalators up and down because of timing. He even took my husband to find a store to fix his broken phone screen.
LJ spoke very good English and was very informative on a wide range of topics. We would highly recommend LJ for Zhangjaijie area.

Above and Beyond
Awesome tour!! Helen was extremely knowledgeable, informative, warm, gracious — with excellent English. It was amazing to learn so much history and culture from the time she picked us up at our hotel to the time we were dropped off. But most importantly, Helen’s help in navigating Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square reservations requirements made my trip. The only thing I would have done differently would have been taking this tour earlier in my visit to Beijing.

Must Go ZhangJiaJie and Give Amanda 5 Star ??
Greeted with warmest welcome. Deep knowledge of the local cultures, stories, customs during the whole trip. Couldn’t be better to have Amanda leading the way and adjust to our needs as my group is chill and love to take some stops to have tea and coffee rather than wanted to do everything on the itinerary. Thank you Amanda for her great services

Arthur is great English speaking guide for Guilin
This review is for the Guilin portion of an 11 day private tour through Marco Polo Tours. Highly recommend Arthur as your guide of Guilin. He has been doing this for a long time and still loves showing off his home town. He speaks English well, and is enthusiastic and courteous. Grateful for the early and frequent communication prior to meeting. He met us at airport very late in evening with excellent driver Mr Tree. They took us to hotel and Arthur checked us in and made sure we were good before saying good night. He picked us up early the next morning and we drove to cruise boat for 4 1/2 boat ride down Li River. It was abdolutely beautiful. We then drove back to Guilin through countryside for photo stops. The evening was to ourselves which perfectly aligned with Lantern Festival fireworks for many hours! The next day Arthur and Mr Tree picked us up late morning and headed to The Reed Flute Cave which was a natural wonder. We then were driven to train station to head to our next China destination. Arthur came through security with us to make sure we knew which gate our train would leave from.
Thank you Arthur, you made Guilin visit great! Thank you Mr Tree.(Hope spelling close).

Great Terracotta visit with Mr. Roger!
I had a pleasure and privilege to visit Terracotta Warriors Museum with this tour arrangement by Mr. Roger, I had all the insight and fascinated with the history of the place as same as the arrangement of transfer and the ticketing. Anyone visiting Xi'An, here is the tour you should not have missed. It is an incredible experience you can earn from visit XiAn!

Fantastic experience!!
Hi, I really had a great time: we visited Tien amen square, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall in just one day and yet without rush. There was enough time to take photos and look around.
Helen, our tour guide, was fantastic: she explained every monuments, providing plenty of details and also some fun facts about the former Emperor queen, she was patient to take photos of the group members and also helped us when buying stuff at some local market. Her English is also really good so problems with communication.
I definitely recommend this tour, and I recommend to have Helen as a tour guide.
Have fun!!

Personalized English speaking tour guide of Xi’an
This is a review of our Xi’an portion of a larger tour with Marco Polo Tours. We had Lily as our guide. She was very good with communication early and often. She met us at gate of train station, driver waiting outside, took us to hotel and checked us in. Next day she again. Met us at hotel and we drove to see the Terracotta Warriors. It was nice having a private English spoken tour. Lily is a historian by education so knew many facts and was able to answer all questions. Lily picked a wonderful restaurant to eat lunch near by , we then drove to see the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Our hotel was walking distance so we said good bye for day. Next day again she met us at hotel, we checked out and we were able to leave our bags in car with driver as we explored city wall and Muslim Quarter and have lunch before our departing flight. Lily was absolutely necessary in airport to check us in. She went above and beyond at counter negotiations. She even sent WeChat messages to tell us gate number as it posted and to make sure we landed in our next destination. Thank you Lily!

Perfect coverage of Beijing in one day
The tour was exactly what we needed. We have just a short time in Beijing and we were able to see so much today and it was really convenient. Kevin was a great tour guide. His energy helped all of us have a good time together. Very fun vibe and everyone enjoyed. Definitely recommend, and you have enough time at each stop to feel satisfied too.

Great day tour with Carol
Our tour guide, Carol, took us on a really informative and enjoyable tour. On the drive from Xi’an to the Terracotta Warriors she gave us a very detailed history of the Qin dynasty as a background of what we were going to see. Once there she gave us time to take photos and look around, as well as stopping us in relevant locations to give more information about what we were seeing. This was very useful as there were no English descriptions for us to read. She took us to a nearby place for lunch, very delicious food. On the way to the Big Wild Goose pagoda, she was available for questions, about what we were seeing today, history of China in general, or even modern day China and any questions we had. She gave us a lot of information about Xi’an today and what it is like to live there. Again, at the sights she provided lots of information and answered all of our questions, as well as giving us the option to climb to the top of the pagoda or not. The City Wall was a great sight, because of the architecture but also seeing people dressed in traditional clothes having photoshoots. At the end of the tour Carol accompanied us to the Muslim bazaar and gave us recommendations of what to do, as well as explaining how to get back to our hotel.
Overall a great day and I wouldn’t have changed anything about the organisation.

Family of four visiting during Chinese New Year Holiday
We visited as a family of four adults during the end of the lunar new years holiday together with our guide LJ and had a really wonderful time. The bridge is an impressive piece of infrastructure, and terrifying yet thrilling to walk on, and the natural landscape is absolutely stunning!
Due to the planning of Travel China Guide and our local guide LJ, everything went really smooht. We found the best views, easily got through crowds, and managed to see a lot in such a limited time. Additionally our guide took plenty of lovely group photos of us so that we have some nice memories!
At the glass bridge there were plenty of activities one could partake in. We tried the VR and the zip-line, though with my brother being almost 2 meters, the 90kg weight limit for the zip line didn't allow him to join that. But he still got to enjoy the slides and other things just fine! And if anything, he always had the best views being taller than the crowd.
I would reallly recommend Travel China Guide for their overall well planned trip arrangements and really lovely local guides. We had an amazing time and got to learn a lot and have our ridiculous questions answered.

David Hao is an excellent English speaking guide
David Hao was a wonderful guide for our 4 days in Beijing. He was courteous, professional, knowledgeable and engaging. He met us at the airport and took care of everything including making sure we were checked in to hotel, transport every day with private driver, Mr. Wong, who was great, arranging tickets and lunches for daily itineraries and walking us through security to our train gate to our next China city.
We felt pampered and absolutely in safe and capable hands. Highly recommend!

Family of four adults visiting Zhangjiajie during CNY
We are a Norwegian family of four adults travelling to Zhangjiajie for the first time at the end of the Chinese new years holiday in February. As expected there were some crowds and long queues, but our excellent guide LJ swiftly got us through all of them with ease. He really knew his ways both around the ticket offices, the queue systems and also the local nature, history, folklore and customs. A very lovely person in every sense of the word; calm, kind and well spoken. He managed to relay the stories and memories of the Tujia people, the geography, the development of the area and his own experience growing in this area and seeing all the changed first hand. Our flight was delayed arriving in Zhangjiajie, which affected our scheduled program, however our guide LJ managed to quickly shuffle it around so that we got through everything in the end.
Travelling from Norway, we’re fairly spoilt when it comes to beautiful nature. Yet this place left us completely speechless. We were lucky enough to see the incredible mountains in both sun, fog AND snowy conditions - all with its own kind of beauty.
We did the schedule in 3 days, and still felt like we got a lot out of it. Without the guide and arrangement from Travel China Guide, we probably wouldn’t have been able to get through even 1/3rd of it. Everything went smooth and as promised, airport pickups, hotel check-in, attraction tickets, driver to and from the various locations and so on. Even food recommendations were great!
Overall a fantastic experience - highly recommended!

China winter tour
Our 14-day tour throughout China’s winter landscape, planned with our agent Ms. Kina Lu, went very smoothly. Every request of ours was met and if questions arose we got a very fast response. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotels chosen for us and were also very happy with our knowledgeable tour guides.

Family of 4 visit during Chinese New Years Holiday
Had a wonderful experience seeing the terra cotta army with Roger! Even though we went on the busiest day of the year and it was absolutely packed, he managed to manoeuvre us through the crowds and we got to see all the best sights! Thank goodness we had a guide going here during this time - it would’ve been a Sisyphean task to do it alone. It was also great to get all the background knowledge Roger had about the various soldiers, the pits, the archaeological excavation progress and the general historical knowledge about the various dynasties of China. We absolutely recommend taking his tour to see this site! It was a smooth experience despite the Chinese New Year holiday crowds, and we got a much more in depth understanding of the terra cotta army than we would’ve gotten otherwise. Thanks Roger!

An unforgettable experience
My tour guide was Carol and she was the best! Such a sweet and friendly personality, and she always made sure we saw and understood everything! I was happy that we were able to meet the farmer who discovered the warriors, I got his autograph :) I cannot recommend this tour enough, and if I ever return to Xi'an, I will make sure to contact Carol again!

15 Days Tour to Hong Kong - Guangzhou - Kunming - Lijiang - Shangri-La - Lhasa - Tsetang - Lhasa
We went on a private 15 day tour, flying into Hong Kong, then taking high speed rail to Guangzhou, then flying into Kunming, then high speed rail into Lijiang, then driving over the mountains and the Yangtze River to Shangri-La, then flying to Lhasa, then driving to Tsetang and driving back to Lhasa. We flew home from Lhasa, via Beijing.
This is our second tour with Travel China Guide and just like our first time, this was an excellent experience again. Traveling to this many cities in 15 days had some complexity, but Amy, our travel consultant , did a great job of communicating with us via email, booking hotels, transportation, and coordinating with the different guides in the different cities.
China is a beautiful country and these cities were great. Hong Kong is an exciting, vibrant city and we very much enjoyed seeing the Tian Tan Buddha on Lantau Island, and the Chin Lin nunnery with its beautiful architecture and gardens, among other sites.
Guangzhou was great. We got to see Dr. Sun Yatsen's Memorial Hall, the Temple of Six Banyan Trees, and the magnificent Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King. This was not part of a scheduled tour, but we were fortunate enough to see it on our free time.
In Kunming we were able to see the beautiful Green Lake Park and the Stone Forest. The limestone formations, trees and lakes reminded me of a series of bonsai scenes but in real size.
Lijiang was a hidden gem. We enjoyed the cultural aspect of visiting a Naxi family, seeing a Baisha village and Buddhist Murals very much. One of my favorite parts of the trip was to visit Lijiang Old Town, with its waterways and old stone streets to explore.
The town of Shangri-La was fascinating to visit. We were able to see temple at the Guishan Park of Dukezong Ancient Town. We also saw the Great Prayer Wheel next to the temple where pilgrims can pull the rope to turn the wheel. The wheel is 21 meters in height and 60 tonnes in weight. People in the town meet in the public square of Ancient Town at 7:00 PM, when music comes on the loudspeakers and people of all ages dance to the music.
In Tsetang we saw the beautiful Yumbu Lakang temple and learned about it's history. We also went to Trandruk Monastery and the Samye Monastery.
Then we went to Lhasa where we saw the crowning glory of Tibetan Buddhism, the Potala Palace. Our guide shared with us the history of the place, and it's importance to the Tibetan people. It's a beautiful place that I'm happy to have seen in person.
Travel China Guide organized all of our hotels, transportation and tours and did it very well. Our hotels were all 5-stars. There were a couple of places where we had issues with the hotels but Amy and the team at Travel China Guide quickly resolved those.
We look forward to our next trip to China and working with Travel China Guide again to plan it.

Couldn’t recommend more highly!
Lily our tourguide was fantastic - she was knowledgeable, patient and her English is excellent. She took good care of us during this tour and it was our favourite tour that we had in China. When we went it was snowing and she tailored our trip to the conditions to make sure we got back safely and also made sure we saw a special exhibition. I would definitely recommend you go with Lily!
