Is this Holiday Inn Express Yichang Riverside hotel far from Yichang East Station?

Not very far in distance, about 15min driving. It should not be hard to get a taxi from hotel or the train station.

How early should I reach Yichang East Station to catch 2:55pm train to Shanghai?

I am a little concerned if I will be able to catch the train from Cruise.

If you have already got your ticket on hand, you could reach there around 30mins in advance. If you still need to pick up the ticket at the station, you need to arrive there around 45minbs in advance.

You can choose to collect your ticket out in advance therefore, you do not need to repeat this process on that day. I think 30 to 40min would do with advanced paper ticket.

Is there anyone know how to go from the cruise port to Yichang East Station?

Any recommended hotel near the station? I am considering an early morning train to Shanghai. Or it is better to choose a hotel in city center?

You can take bus b1k to the East Station directly, around 50min. You can also take taxi which takes around 25min. There is a Lavande Hotel. You can consider it. If you go to this hotel directly, you can take bus b1 to brt Jiechenglu.
