Huangshizhai
Huangshizhai or Yellow Stone Village is one of the most famous attractions in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (also called Wulingyuan). It is a huge stone platform with an altitude over 1,080 meters (3,540 feet). As the most beautiful and largest view observation deck in Zhangjiajie, Huangshizhai shaped like a fierce lion. It also gathers the most natural wonders in Zhangjiajie. Standing on it, you will see countless towering peak forests with penetrating mist. As the saying goes, you can never say you have visited Zhangjiajie without going to Huangshizhai.
Heavenly Book Treasure Box Rock is a 20-meter-high (65-foot) stone cylinder with five pine trees standing on it. In the center of the stone, you can see a cuboid rock and another slab stone on top of it. Half of the slab stone covers the rock, and the other half is suspended in the air, making the rock look like an ancient book box with its lid opened.
Tian Qiao Yi Dun consists of six 200-meter-high (655 feet) oval stone pillars lined up in the 3,000-meter-long valley (3,280 yards). It is located in the northwest of Huangshizhai. Their sizes and spacing are almost the same. Also, with all their tops being flat, the pillars look like six bridge piers, with the two in the middle being higher and the others lower.
This attraction is 3 peaks, each over 100 meters (330 feet) high. They look like 3 girls in distinctive folk costumes of Miao Ethnic Group. Legend has it that the 3 girls sang romantic songs to their lovers for 3 days and nights. However one day, 7 suns appeared in the sky. It was so hot that they were turned into stones.
On the mountain road leading to the summit of Huangshizhai, there is a natural gate formed by a rock and a stone wall. The Gate is narrow and wild trees are growing on the 2 sides. After walking past the Gate, you will be welcomed by the wonderful sea of clouds, seeming like entering the heavenly world in legends. In addition, a 20-meter-high rock (65 feet) on its right side would also amaze you. For its unique shape similar to humans, the rock is like a general guarding the heavenly world.
It is a peak high over hundred meters standing in the valley, and lush forests cover its top and the gray cliff. To its southwest, there is another rock shaped like a monkey, which is “clenching its fist” while “peeking” the Peak. It reminds people of the spot in the Chinese TV series Journey to the West.
