Popular Hiking Route in Guiyang

Itinerary : 6 Days of Guiyang - Huangguoshu - Xingyi - Anlongzhaodi - Zhenfeng - Xingyi

The first day, you can take a passenger bus from the Guiyang Gymnasium Bus Station, next to the railway station. After about  two hours' drive along the highway, you will arrive at Huangguoshu Waterfall - your first viewing spot. Located on the Baihe (or Baishui) River, this is one of the largest waterfalls in China. For about 30 yuan per person you can take the escalator to the top of the waterfall. The roundtrip charge is about 50 yuan per person. After that, we suggest you wait for the bus beside the Guihuang superhighway. After arriving in Xingyi, head for the Garden of the Street Center (Jiexinhuayuan), a circular Plaza surrounded by many interesting back streets. There you have a wonderful dinner on local snacks. After that, hike 2 kilometers to the Meiya Hotel in the Ruijin Road area. The room rate (with hot water) is 70 yuan per night.

Next morning, head for Fuxing Road to take the No.1 bus to the Thousands Peaks Hike. The bus fare is just 1 yuan and the admission fare of the landscape is about 35 yuan per person. If you are in good physical shape and would like to fully enjoy the wonderful sights, you are advised to hike along the road about 7-8 kilometers instead of taking the electric bus (which will cost 30 yuan for the roundtrip). The fresh views of the fantastic and spectacular hills are really worth your visit. Take the No. 1 bus back to Xingyi city.

The third day, take the No.4 bus to Maling Gorge, which runs along Jushan Road from Xingyi to the Dingxiao railway station, less than 10 kilometers away. To save your strength for hiking, you are advised to take the bus to reach the area. There are two entry gates for the scenic area and the No. 4 bus will stop at the Xiaoqing Hill gate, where two kinds of entrance fees are available. One is 60 yuan per person for the usual visit, including the famous Seven Star Gallery and the valley hike. One can enjoy the natural scenery and see many waterfalls coming down from the high bluffs. The other option is drifting downriver for about 3 hours. If you prefer to the river-trip, make sure that your belongs are water-proof. You can stay overnight at the Maling Gorge Shanzhuang, which is located just outside the gate (Tel: 0859-3114030/8879281). The next day, you can enter the scenic area again for more hiking or you can take a bus back to Xingyi.

The fifth day, you can take a minibus from the passenger station to Zhenfeng in less than three hours. There, transfer to a minibus to Zhexiangzhen(another 4 yuan). After you alight at Zhexiangzhen, you can hike to the Sancha River in less than two hours. Enjoy the natural view of the river and its beautiful surroundings. Go to visit the traditional paper hand-making. Stay overnight at the local farmhouse or the villa in the landscape.

The last day, hike 6 kilometers to visit the nearby Buyi Village. Finish your trip by going back to Xingyi via Zhengfeng.
