5 Days Private Trip to Kunming & Shangri-La

When your flight lands in Kunming, you will find your professional local guide and driver waiting for you in the Arrival Hall of the airport on time. If you arrive by train, they will pick you up from the exit of the railway station. Then, a comfortable ride will take you to the well-selected hotel in the downtown area. After a short break, your Kunming Shangri-La tour will start from the Green Lake Park, where you will take a leisurely walk to appreciate the fascinating scenery.

After breakfast this morning, your guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel lobby and then take you to the highlight spot of Kunming - the Stone Forest. Thanks to the erosion of nature, such a spectacular scene was created with numerous limestones in diversified shapes.

Afterwards, we will head to a local Yi minority village - the Nuohei Village, where the houses are totally built of stones. By visiting this village, you will learn more about the customs of the Yi minority and experience their daily life.

Today, you will be escorted to the airport for a flight to Shangri-La, the next destination of your Kunming to Shangri-La tour. When your flight arrives, your local guide and driver will pick you up at the Arrival Hall and then take you directly to the Songzanlin Monastery, which is the largest Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in Yunnan. Most constructions here are built in the Tibetan style, looking like a set of old palaces. Besides, many treasures, like the precious golden Buddha statues, palm-leaf scriptures, thangkas and gilt or silver incense burners are stored up here, which definitely will be a treat for your eyes.

After lunch, we will leave for the Nixi Pottery Village which is surrounded by green grasslands where you can see yaks and sheep. Additionally, a pottery making class will be specially arranged for you to learn to make pottery from the Tibetan artisans, which will last for around one hour.

After breakfast, you will be taken to the Potatso National Park, which is characterized by plateau lakes and green grasslands. Inside this scenic area, you will first take a scenic boat tour on the Shudu Lake. The crystal water and the gentle breeze will offer you a peaceful atmosphere. Around the lake, you can see the rolling hills covered by dense forests. Later, you will be taken to visit the Militang Pasture nearby, where you can appreciate the picturesque scenery and encounter animals like yaks, sheep…

Around noon, we will pay a visit to a Tibetan family and taste authentic home cooked food for lunch there. In the afternoon, visit the Dukezong Ancient Town, which is said to have been built over 1,000 years ago.

This morning, your guide will take you to the last stop of your Kunming to Shang-La tour - the Baiji Monastery, a holy place for the local worshippers of Buddhism. It is also a great site to overlook the whole Shangri-La.

After that, your guide and driver will transfer you to the airport according to your flight schedule and help you board the plane.
