There is an interesting event in mid-September in Nara. The procession children, ladies and more fellows. They, decorated with seven autumn plants in Japan, parade in Nara City in the evening. Then they offer sacrifice at Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and finally throw the flowered fans to Sarusawa-ike Pond, near Kofuku-ji Temple, on old-fashioned boats. You may go to watch it if interested.
Todai-ji Temple and Kofuku-ji Temple are the best to probe into Nara’s old temples. Isui-en and Yoshiki-en are traditional gardens to appreciate natural beauty. For foodies, you must try yomogi mochi, a local specialty with red bean paste in mugwort rice cake, and Nakatanidou mochi shop at the entrance of Higashimuki Street offers the best one. Visitors can also find more Japanese snacks as well as crafts on the street.
