June is the flowering period of hydrangea, and Yatadera Temple in the southwestern suburb of Nara is full of stunning hydrangea flowers in June. The east garden of Heijo Palace, Isui-en Garden and Yoshiki-en Garden are also great places to enjoy natural scenery. Naramachi is an antique district full of machiya, the traditional Japanese wooden house with a storefront, making you feel in Japan centuries ago. As it is summer climatically, kakigori – Japanese shaved ice dessert is worth a taste; Himuro Shrine is right a kakigori paradise and the god of ice is worshipped there.
