What to Wear in Nara in December
Top Things to Do in Nara in December
In mid-December at the end of the year, Nara has another grand festival, Kasuga Wakamiya On-matsuri. It is usually held around Kasuga Taisha Shrine from December 15th to 18th. The great parade and traditional artistic performances of different ages attract a lot of visitors. Meanwhile, Nara National Museum will launch an exhibition about Kasuga Wakamiya On-matsuri in December every year, with many old relics on display, including Shinto wares used in the ceremony in ancient times and old paintings describing the festival.
Deer in Nara Park is an icon in Nara. Why not try feeding deer for fun? Multiple old temples are recommended to see the Japanese style yards as well as traditional architecture. Todai-ji Temple is famous for the Great Buddha, as the statue is quite giant in size. Apart from temples, Naramachi is also a great district to see Japanese traditional buildings. Koshi-no-le, the old house having a shop with street frontage, is pretty distinctive at Naramachi. Sanjo Dori and Higashimuki Street are also great streets for a food safari.
