Nanjing Metro Line S1, namely the Ninggao Line, is a suburban subway line in Nanjing, linking Nanjing city proper and Gaochun District. This line is planned to be constructed in two phases. The first phase, Airport Line, from South Railway Station to Nanjing Lukou International Airport, is in operation. This phase is around 35.8km (22mi) long and has eight stations. It takes 35 minutes from the south railway station to the airport and the trains run around every 10 minutes. The fare for the whole airport line is CNY6.

The second phase of Nanjing Subway Line S1 to Gaochun District is under construction and will begin service in 2015. It is around  52km (32mi) long and will pass through Jiangning District, Lishui District and Gaochun District with six stations.

Further Information:
Line S7 is another suburban line, connecting to Lukou Airport. It will begin service in 2015 and will connect Lukou Airport in the north and Wuxiangshan in the south, passing Zhetang District and Lishui District. Line S1 and Line S7 will share the Lukou International Airport Station in the future. S7 will have 9 stations: Lukou International Airport, Zhetang, Zhetang New District, Jinshan, Tuanshan, Lishui, Zhongshan East Road, Jinlong Road and Wuxiang Mountain.

Besides S1 and S7, there are another six S lines planned. All the S series lines will link the city proper and suburban areas and even other cities. Among them, the first phase of S1 and S8 are in service, while S3 and S7 are under construction. The rest of lines, S2, S4, S5 and S6 are still in planning.
