Firstly, you need a portable umbrella because of the changing weather in rainy season. Except that, sandals are more suitable than cloth high-top shoes or sneakers for rainy weather.
As for females, your outfit in Thailand should be colorful and refreshing. The versatile match is all kinds of slim tank or camisole as inner wear and blouse as top, then a skirt or shorts as bottom. You can also try the local traditional garments like sarong; they can be easily found in local markets. As for males, simple and stylish shirts and shorts are the best matches in the tropical country. Pattaya
Pattaya is a place full of energetic and enthusiastic people no matter in days or at nights in the peak season, so it can be a good choice to travel there in the off season to feel the unique atmosphere without crowds around. In July, because the showers only continues for one or two hours in a day, you can still have sun bath on the Pattaya Beach after the rain. If the rain comes, there are lively bars and gorgeous shows indoors for you. Tiffany Show, the most famous lady-boy show in Pattaya, combines multiple styles of singing and dances and the performers always wear luxuriant costumes. Besides that, Pattaya Floating Market filled with local specialty is a good place for you to hang around. The Sanctuary of Truth Museum entirely made by wood is a wonderful place for photography lovers. Similarly, Nong Nooch Botanical Garden is a Thai village styled park, with elephant show and Thailand folk show there.
Rayong, a less-known town near Pattaya, teems with tropical fruits, especially durians. You can go there by taxi or bus. If you are a big fan of tropical fruits, you cannot miss enjoying buffet with over 20 kinds of fruits in local orchards. Except fruits, Laem Charoen Beach and Star Night Bazaar Market are chill places for you to visit after the fruit feast.
Chiang Mai
In the slack season, Chiang Mai is quieter and more original. Chiang Mai Old City is an attractive area full of ancient relics, coffee shops and restaurants. Nowadays, the old city still remains the city wall and the moat. Tha Pae Gate, the symbol of the city with red bricks and active pigeons, is well preserved for over 700 years. On the west of the old city, Doi Suthep Mountain at an elevation of 1,600meters (5,250 feet) is a holy Buddhism place of Thailand. The Wat Phra That Doi Suthep on the mountainside has splendid dagoba and statues. The Chiang Mai Zoo located at the foot of the Suthep Mountain has over 400 animal species, which allows you to have a close contact with the local creatures.
Two Buddhism Festivals in Thailand in July
If you are interested in Buddhism culture of Thailand, July is a good timing for traveling. In 2025, Asalha Puja (Dhamma Day) will be on July 10th and Khao Phansa (Buddhist Lent Day) on July 11th. Asalha Puja is the anniversary of the first preach of Buddha. Khao Phansa is a ceremony for the beginning of rainy season practices. During these two festivals, locals will hold the Wian Tian (candle parade) ceremony, give alms to the monks and attend religious ceremonies. On the Khao Phansa, the splendid candle statue parade will attract thousands of tourists. To join the ceremonies, you can go to Ubon Ratchathani in the northeast Thailand. Except in Ubon Ratchathani, other temples like the Wat Pho Temple over the whole country will have special ceremonies.
