Yes, you can enjoy the 144-hour visa free transit in Hangzhou if you fly from HK to Hangzhou and also hold the Hangzhou - Macau flight ticket in hand when landing.

Reentering China with a 14 days visa-free
Hi!I am currently in Mainland China during my first stay ever. I am Spanish, so I am using my 14 days visa-free and I had no problems with that. Now, my plan was to use the visa-free entry twice, covering different areas each time. So I planned 14 days in Mainland, one week in Taipei just to reset the visa and 14 days in Mainland again. I asked time ago and I was told that new entries are fine as long as I spend at least one night abroad. But some days ago a person I met also traveling the country told me she was told otherwise. Can you confirm I can reentry no problem? Thank you very much.

If I buy morning tickets, can we stay in the forbidden city all day or do we have to leave before the afternoon ? Thank you, Emmanuel.

Generally, there is no problem if they have valid passports. BTW, it costs CNY 834 per person for British citizens.
