4 Days Private Shangri-La Tour

Upon your arrival in Shangri-La, your guide will hold a welcome board waiting for you in the Arrival Hall of the airport. Please inform us of your flight information in advance so that we could pick you up on time. After a warm greeting, you will be taken to check into the hotel by a private vehicle. As most flights to Shangri-La, also known as Diqing, arrive late in the day, no sightseeing or activity is arranged on the first day of this 4 days Yunnan tour. If you arrive early, we are also glad to show you around to get familiar with this city first.

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the hotel and then this Shangri-La tour will be unveiled with a visit to the magnificent Songzanlin Monastery. As the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Yunnan, Sonzanlin is reputed as the Little Potala. Nestled on a hill slope, the whole temple complex is just like a giant and imposing castle with fabulous mural paintings. Delving into the monastery, you will find abundant cultural relics including Buddhist scriptures, Tangka works and Buddha statues.

After lunch, we will drive to the Nixi Pottery Village, which is famous for its centuries-old black pottery making art. In this lovely Tibetan village, you will be given a rare chance to learn to make pottery vessels from a local craftsman, and the class will last about one hour. Finally, you will be escorted back to the hotel.

In the morning, we will embark on a delightful excursion to the wonderland of Potatso National Park. It is a world-class nature reserve with varied landscapes of highland meadow, alpine pastures, mirror-like lakes, wetlands as well as lush virgin forests. An amazing boat cruise on Shudu Lake will take you to step into the untouched part of the reserve where wildlife lives. Then we will take a leisure stroll at Militang Pasture to appreciate the enchanting steppe. Afterwards, pay a visit to a local Tibetan family to enjoy a Tibetan-style meal and experience authentic local life.

In the afternoon, we will proceed to Dukezong Ancient Town, which has a history of over 1,300 years. Following your guide, you will wander through the archaic lanes crammed with wooden white-wall dwellings, Tibetan Temples, gilded prayer halls and pagodas. At the central square of the town, you will get in touch with the real local life by joining their leisure activities like singing and dancing.

Today we will head to the last stop of the Shangri-La tour itinerary, Baiji Temple. It is an off-beaten spot perched on a hilltop in the west of Shangri-La's Dukezong Ancient Town. Though it is little known to travelers, the temple offers an awesome bird's eye view of the old town and the surrounding serenity of Shangri-La.
