Panda Volunteer Experience

News: As the Bifeng Gorge Base is undergoing expansion now, the volunteer program and other activities have been temporally suspended. The restart time is still unknown. When the volunteer program restarts, visitors can take part in the work to clean panda houses, prepare food and feed pandas under the instructions of the staff.

Our guide will meet you outside the baggage claim area of Chengdu Airport, holding a welcome board with your name on it. A private drive will take you to the hotel for check-in. We remain the rest of the day free for you.

The morning trip will take you to Jinsha Site Museum and Wide and Narrow Alley. Jinsha Site Museum is a theme museum built on Jinsha ruins to exhibit Shu culture of ancient Sichuan. The Wide and Narrow Alley consists of three alleys: Wide Alley, Narrow Alley and Well Alley. It is a great place to learn daily lives of common Chengdu people, taste delicious local food and snacks, and experience rich local culture. After that, we will drive about 2.5 hours to Bifeng Gorge Base of China Panda Protection and Research Center. Chosen as the new home of pandas immigrated from Wolong National Natural Reserve after the 2008 earthquake, Bifeng Gorge has pleasant climate, dense forests and rich waters. It is not only a great dwelling for pandas, but also a nice resort for human beings. Upon arrival, check in the hotel close to the panda base. Have a good rest and save energy for tomorrow's visit to the lovely pandas.

You will spend the whole day at Bifeng Gorge Panda Base today. It is not exaggerated to say the base is the heaven of pandas, equipped with kindergarten, hospital, playground, houses, villas and various kinds of bamboos for these little cutes. Here, you can watch them playing with each other, eating bamboos joyfully, or lie sweetly asleep. Also, you can learn living habits, evolutionary history, and suitable living environment of pandas. We believe this will be the first time in your life that you see so many pandas in a time. Our guide will also accompany you to visit the rest part of the base to appreciate beautiful waterfalls and listen to touching fairy tales behind each scenic spot. In late afternoon, we'll drive you back to Chengdu.

Today's excursion will take you to Leshan to worship the famous Giant Buddha. Reputed as the world's largest stone carved Buddha, it is about 233 feet high, and its two feet can hold almost 100 people to sit on. In addition to the Buddha, there are also temples, pagodas and waterfalls inside the scenic area that you can pay a visit. In the afternoon, we will go back to Chengdu to visit Sichuan Museum, a comprehensive museum telling Sichuan history and culture by over 260,000 pieces of historical relics.
