240-hour Visa-free Transit in Chongqing

From Dec. 17, 2024, the duration of 144h visa-free transit policy has been extended to 240h for tourism, family visits, exchange visits and business. More importantly, travelers can now cross provincial boundaries to travel between the permitted 24 provinces, regions and municipalities which cover most tourist cities across Mainland China through 60 ports. As of December 1, 2019, the 144-hour visa-free transit has come into force in Chongqing and the duration has been extended to 240 hours. Passengers from 54 countries can make use of it to enjoy tours in Chongqing and other 23 provinces and regions during multiple stopovers in these provinces given that they can meet the requirements.

How to Apply for 240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Chongqing

Required documents include:
1. Passport valid for at least 3 months.
2. A confirmed departure ticket to the Country C mentioned above and a visa for it if required.
Note that you are likely to be refused entry under the following conditions: 1) your passport’s remaining validity is shorter than 3 months; 2) you have records of illegal immigration, stay and work in the recent 5 years.
