Where to Go in Hiroshima in June
Toukasan Festival is the liveliest event in Hiroshima, held from the first Friday to Sunday in June. It’s to worship the God of Grain and Food who is in charge of harvest, and people stroll around open-air stalls, especially the food stalls around Enryuji Temple in the city center in their yukata. Museum of Contemporary Art is also a nice place to visit, in particular, on rainy days.
Travel to Miyajima, Itsukushima-jinja Shrine with The Great Torii on sea is absolutely unmissable. Nearby Five-Storey Pagoda is also eye-catching, and Mount Misen would give you a panoramic view of the alluring island. Sea fishing becomes hot as marine products are abundant in Seto Inland Sea in summer. Also, visitors are advised to taste the local fresh seafood.
Tips
Visitors may need a convenient folded umbrella in case of accidental rains during the rainy season. Even so, it’s necessary to have sunscreen measures.
