Day 2 Beijing
Visit Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City including Treasure Gallery; enjoy a la carte welcome lunch with authentic Peking Duck; continue to visit Yonghe Temple and Temple of Heaven; and watch the classic Peking Opera in the evening. (B+L)
Temple of Heaven
This morning, we will walk the Tiananmen Square to approach the Forbidden City, aka the Palace Museum. On stepping inside the City, you will immediately be impressed by those red-walled, yellow-roofed imperial palaces. A solemn air will seize you - it’s the office and residence of Chinese emperors of Ming and Qing eras (1368 - 1911), after all. We will treat you to a visual feast in Treasure Gallery, where imperial-level treasures are on display.

After the morning's excursion, we will enjoy an a la carte welcome lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) with roasted Peking Duck at a renowned local restaurant. Proceed to Yonghe Temple, a place of worship for Tibetan Buddhists, and then Temple of Heaven, where the Chinese emperors prayed for Heaven to bless his nation. Your will marvel at the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, whose each and every component was designed according to ancient Chinese beliefs in the divinity of Heaven, like its four columns that represent four seasons and twelve outer ones twelve months. A landmark of Beijing, an inspiration for the logo of Bank of Beijing and local Medicare card, it’s been a part of local life.

Immerse in Chinese traditional culture tonight. You will watch not only Peking Opera actors drawing lianpu, iconic facial designs of the art, but also a live Peking Opera show, at Liyuan Theatre.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, A la carte welcome lunch
Day 3 Beijing
Visit Mutianyu Great Wall by round-trip cable car and toast for Great Wall challenge with red wine; drive by Olympic Bird's Nest; then take a rickshaw ride through Hutong alleys and visit a local family in a traditional courtyard house. (B)
Mutianyu Great Wall
Today's itinerary starts with Mutianyu Great Wall (part of the Great Wall of China). A round-trip cable car is arranged for going up and down. Get ready to shudder before this sinuous ancient engineering feat! To highlight this moment, we will also clink glasses of red wine for a toast. Lunch is not arranged today, because restaurants nearby are not up to our service standard. You are advised to take some fast food for lunch.

On our way back downtown, we will stay for a while in front of the Olympic Stadium known as the Bird's Nest, for you to take some photos. Go on a rickshaw tour to weave though hutongs, or residential alleys, to discover Beijing’s traditional life. Your trip for today will end with a visit to a local family that dwells here.

Day 5 Xi'an
Visit Terracotta Army and the discoverer’s home; have a unique experience to make your own mini clay warrior; continue to visit Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, and then enjoy dumpling dinner and Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show in the evening. (B+D)
While in Xi'an, of course we won’t miss the Terracotta Army, commissioned by the first emperor of imperial China to guard his mausoleum. In the morning, we will head there to behold a tremendous array of lifelike pottery warriors. We will also spice this tour with a visit to the family of the discoverer of the first warrior, followed by a lesson to teach you how to craft a mini clay solider, which you will take home.

In the afternoon, proceed to Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. Constructed over 1,300 years ago during the Tang dynasty, it can be considered the Buddhist translation bureau of the central government. Perhaps we should complain less about our working time, if we realize those monks had even devoted the entire life to their toilsome work. Not to mention those civil servants working at the Tang court, who were only allowed to retire at seventy, and who had to get up at 1:00 am to traverse across half Xi’an to meet their monarchs.

This evening, we will feast on a traditional Dumpling Dinner as well as the classic Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Performance.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, Dumpling dinner

► Friendly Tips:
Guests visiting in January, February, March and December need to arrange the dinner and evening activity on their own for this day, since the theater is usually not open at those periods.

Next, stroll along the Golden Whip Stream to see its crystal-clear water reflecting overlapping hills and luxuriant forests.
