Yantai Transportation - Getting There
As one of the earliest trading ports of China, Yantai has a long history of strong maritime transport. With nine ports, the city handles 41 million tons of cargo and registers a passenger transport volume of 3.79 million people each year. Many people enjoy taking a boat trip starting here to Dalian and other coastal cities. The city has convenient air, sea and overland transportation so you can choose your favorite type of transportation when you visit this city.
Air
Opened in May 2015, Yantai Airport replaced the former Laishan Airport. It is around 28 miles (45 kilometers) from the city proper. Its domestic and international terminal buildings occupy an area of 22 acres (9 hectares). Now the airport hosts many air routes: the domestic destinations include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Changsha and Chongqing, and the international destinations are Hong Kong, Taipei, Busan, Seoul, and Osaka.
Airport Transportation: downtown shuttle buses to General Bus Station, West Bus Station, South Railway Station and South Bus Station; intercity express buses to Longkou, Penglai, Rushan and Qixia; MPVs to the airport leaving from some star hotels in the downtown.

Train
Yantai Railway Station is located at No.135, Beima Road in downtown Yantai. Now there are high-speed trains and normal speed trains to/from Beijing, Shijiazhuang Shanghai, Xi'an, Jiamusi, Qingdao, Jinan, Xuzhou, and other cities. Yantai South Railway Station is about 15 km (9km) to downown which operates high-speed trains to/from Beijing, Shanghai, Jinan, Qingdao, Xi’an, etc. You can buy tickets at the railway stations with a valid ID certificate like a passport.

Long-distance Bus
The 11 main coach stations are the City Coach Bus Terminal, Qingnian Lu Coach Bus Station, West Coach Bus Station, Beima Lu Coach Bus Station, East Coach Bus Station, Penglai Coach Bus Station, Mouping Coach Bus Station, Laizhou Coach Bus Station, Laiyang Coach Bus Station, Zhaoyuan Coach Bus Station and Qixia Coach Bus Station. At present, these stations have set up the long-distance network of selling tickets, so you can buy the tickets of the starting stations or round-trips from any station. Additionally, many branch post offices sell the tickets. Here gives some addresses of these post offices.

It is best to use the City Coach Bus Terminal (No.86 West Avenue, Zhifu District) for the long-distance travel, because there are more routes and it's the largest station.
Besides the regular routes, the Qingnian Lu Coach Bus Station (No.36 Qingnian Road, Zhifu District) also offers tour buses on weekends. Especially, during the Chinese Golden Weeks, it provides more tour buses. Here are the six one-day tour routes of this station:

And the Beima Lu Coach Bus Station (on the Beima Road and to the west of the Railway Station) offers two tour lines on weekends. One is to the Resort of Aishan Hot Spring which is located in the Songshan Town of Qixia City. The other line is to the Mou's Manor in Qixia City.
Ship
Yantai Port Passenger Transport General Incorporation set up two passenger stations - Yantai Port Passenger Transport Station (No.155 Beima Road) and the Huanhai Lu Passenger Transport Station (No.2 Huanhai Road). Each day, quite a few ships shuttle between the city and Dalian and you can go to these two stations to take the ship to Dalian. There are three categories of the passenger ships to Dalian - ordinary, ro-ro and high-speed. And their flight time to Dalian is respectively 8H, 5.5H to 7.5H and 3H. Additionally, the incorporation provides the service to Inchon (in South Korea). There are three ships to Inchon in a week (at 17:30 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday).
