June in Beijing is both the beginning of summer and the first boom of the tourist season of the city. Generally speaking, clear days are the norm of the June weather in Beijing, and there is still big temperature difference between day and night. Compared to May, the temperature in June rises significantly. Except for the rainy days or when there is cold air, the daily highest temperature usually reaches above 30°C (86°F).

Because of the high temperature and the strong air convection, there would be more rain with occasional thunderstorms, but it won't rain continuously.

Generally, summer clothes such as shorts and dresses are enough to cope with the Beijing climate in June. But it’s advised to take a spare thin overcoat as well due to the big temperature difference between day and night and the occasional rainy days.

Before the tourist flow of summer vacation since July, this month is a good time to tour the popular sites in Beijing, including the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and Hutong area. The Chinese Dragon Boat Festival usually falls in June, so various celebrations in the city are additional choices besides the tourist attractions.

In early summer, the sunlight may be very strong in the afternoon, so do prepare some sun-tan oil, lotion, cream and heatstroke preventive. You may also pack a raincoat or umbrella for any sudden rain during travel. Remember not to take cover from the rain under a tree during thunderstorms.

Plan to travel to Beijing, Gubei Water Town in June 9th to 16th in 2024

Planning to travel to the above 2 places during that June Period.

How is the weather like during the day and night in Beijing? I heard there was a heatwave last year of around 44 degrees Celsius. Is this a good time of the year to be climbing the Great Wall during the day time in Gubei Water Town area? What is the anticipated temperature? How about night time climbing the Great Wall in Gubei Water Town? Is it too warm?

Beijing has entered Summer in June. The temperature is from 20-35°C, big difference between day and night. It's already hot to climb the Great Wall during the day time, especially on a sunny day. So night tour is better, also considering the night view.

Normally, it’s a hot and rainy month. As I know, the temperature can reach 35C.
As for places of interest, you can go to Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace and Qianmen Street. Oh, you’d better exchange for some cash at the airport.

Well, you can have an independent cruise travel, for I’m afraid you can hardly find an agency which arranges the cruise only in BJ. You are suggested to take a flight or high speed train from BJ to Chongqing, where you can have the Yangtze River Cruise. During the cruise travel, you will find a lot of fellows from western countries. Just have fun.

Oh, generally speaking, spring (Apr.-Jun.）and autumn (Sep. -Oct.) are regarded as the most appropriate time to tour around these places. The temperature is warm and comfortable. And nice weather conditions are also good for sightseeing.

There are several different sections of the great wall, which section do you want to go? Well, the Badaling section is the most typical and best-preserved part, you can go there.
There are several Novotel hotels in that city, which one do you refer to? Anyway, you can take a bus or taxi to Dongshengmen Bus Station, where you can take the bus No. 877, 919 and 880 to the wall directly.

Or head to the local North Railway Station near Xizhimen metro station, where you can take the train S2 to Badaling.

Oh, I know. You can walk to Chongwenmen subway station to take the line 2 to Xizhimen Station. Take the Exit A2, and you will see the North Railway Station, where you can take the train S2 to Badaling. Upon your arrival, you can walk to the wall in 10 – 15 mins.
