Beijing to Hangzhou: Travel via Flight & Train

Beijing is about 1,100km (680mi) away from Hangzhou. The fastest and best way to travel between is by plane, considering the short duration of 2.5h as well as the high frequency of 60 flights per day. G-type high-speed train is an alternative, and it takes 4.5-6.5h and CNY562-674 for the cheapest seat. Overnight travelers may consider the two D-type trains and two normal speed trains.

How to Travel from Beijing to Hangzhou

1. Fastest Way: Beijing to Hangzhou Flight: 2.5h, CNY600-1,900 for Economy Class

Over 60 flights are scheduled from Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) or Daxing International Airport (PKX) to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH) every day, taking CNY600-1,900 for an economy class seat. The earliest one sets off at 6:20 and the last one at 22:10. Tourists are recommended to book tickets online for the discount.
 

2. Alternative Way: High Speed Train: 4.5-6.5h, CNY562-674 for 2nd Class Seat

There are over 20 G-type trains available every day, running from Beijing South Railway Station to Hangzhou East Railway Station. Nearly all are scheduled between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Two D-type overnight high-speed trains are also in service, departing at 19:16 and 21:15 from Beijing Railway Station to Hangzhou Railway Station, taking about 14 hours and CNY302-328 for a second class seat and CNY491-529 for a second class sleeper.

3. Normal Speed Train: 16.5-21h, CNY504.5-515 for Soft Sleeper

Unlike above, the normal speed trains leave from Beijing Railway Station or Beijing Fengtai Railway Station and arrive at Hangzhou Railway Station. By the way, Z281 is most recommended to overnight travelers.

How to Travel from Hangzhou to Beijing

1. Fastest Way: Hangzhou to Beijing Flight: 2.5h, CNY600-1,900 for Economy Class

Each day, frequent Hangzhou to Beijing flights are available from 6:25 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Tourists may leave from Xiaoshan International Airport and arrive at Capital International Airport or Daxing International Airport.
 

2. Alternative Way: High Speed Train: 4.5-7h, CNY575-674 for 2nd Class Seat

About 20 G-type trains run from Hangzhou East Railway Station to Beijing South Railway Station every day. The earliest train leaves at 6:52 a.m. and the last one leaves at 7:00 p.m. There are also two D-type overnight trains running from Hangzhou Railway Station to Beijing Railway Station at 17:25 and 19:49 respectively, taking about 14 hours and CNY302-328 for a second class seat and CNY491-529 for a second class sleeper.

3. Normal Speed Train: 17.5-20.5h, CNY505.5-515 for Soft Sleeper

Only two Hangzhou to Beijing normal speed trains are available every day. The departure station is Hangzhou Railway Station and the arrival station is Beijing Railway Station or Beijing Fengtai Raiway Station.

How to Get from Beijing to Hangzhou West Lake

1. Flight + Metro&City Bus: 4h; CNY610 at least

You may first fly to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, which takes around 2.5h. Then, take metro line 7 at the airport to Wushan Square and take Exit C. Then take bus No. 4 to Qingbomen stop. The east gate of the scenic spot is near the stop. It takes 1.5 hours and CNY9.

2. High Speed Train + Metro/City Bus: 5-8h, CNY570-680

You may take G-type train and get to the Hangzhou East Railway Station first. After you go walk outside the station, either of these two ways works.

→Take Metro Line 1 (bound for Xianghu) and get off at Longxiangqiao stop. Walk westward for 250 meters to take Bus No. 31 to Qianwangci stop. It takes 40 minutes and CNY6.

→Take city bus No.31 and get off at the Qianwangci stop. It takes more than 1h and CNY2.

3. Normal Speed Train + Metro&City Bus: 17-22h, CNY510-520

You may first take overnight trains and arrive at the Hangzhou Railway Station. After going out the station, you may follow either of these ways.

→Take Metro Line 1 (bound for Xioashan International Airport) and get off at Longxiangqiao stop. Then, you may walk westward for 250 meters to take Bus No. 31 at Shengli Theater to Qianwangci stop. It takes 30-40 minutes and CNY4.

→Take the metro line 7 to Wushan Square and take Exit C. Then take bus No. 4 to Qingbomen stop. The east gate of the scenic spot is near the stop. It takes one hour and CNY4.
