Xiamen Flights

At present, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport has operated over 180 air routes from around 40 airlines, covering all the major cities of mainland China and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and connecting the Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, America and Australia. There are about 110 navigable destinations, containing about 85 domestic cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Harbin, as well as around 25 international and regional cities, such as Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Bangkok and Taipei. 
 It is situated at the northeast end of Xiamen Island, about 6 miles (10 kilometers) from the city center. There are two terminal buildings operated in this airport. T3 is for flights from Xiamen Airline, China Southern Airlines and all international flights. T4 is for domestic flights of other airlines. Four airport shuttle bus lines transfer passengers to/from downtown area and another four to/from nearby cities. Also, some city buses are in use.

 There is a huge disparity in air ticket prices. The highest fare flying from Osaka to Xiamen can be up to about CNY15,000 but that can be as low as around CNY 2,000 with special discount. As for the fare to/from Singapore, it flows from CNY 1,500 to CNY15,000. The cost on the ticket of Jakarta - Xiamen flight usually is also about CNY 1,500 - CNY15,000. 1. Book the tickets as early as possible for higher chance of getting a big discount. Under normal circumstances, make reservations for domestic flights at least one week in advance and international ones at least two weeks ahead. Besides, the discount of domestic ones from November to next March is usually 30% - 60% off and from April to October is 20% - 40% off. However, during holidays or festivals, such as the Chinese New Year, National Day and May Day, the tickets are basically full-price, so you can choose to avoid these peaks.

2. If you are not pressed for time, making a transfer in some big cities is recommended to international passengers. Taking the plane from Sydney to Xiamen will cost about CNY1,500 - 8,000 at the time of written. If you cannot get the discounted tickets, consider transferring in Shanghai, Zhengzhou and Guangzhou with fare of about CNY 2,000 - 4,000, which helps to save about CNY1,000 at least.

3. Domestic airlines generally adjust their schedule in March and November, so there will be fare changes in March and November. Pay close attention to airlines’ official websites or be their members to get the fresh information about the fare changes. Book it without hesitation once you see the special tickets.

4. Ordering the back-trip tickets ahead of time can save much money for you.

5. Take flights from cheap airlines, including Air Asia, Spring Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air, Tiger Airways, Ryan Air Limited…

6. Taking red-eye flights is another good choice, which are much cheaper and can help save daytime for you.
