Good News: Since Feb 10th, 2025, tour groups with 2 or more ordinary passport holders from the 10 ASEAN countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia can visit Xishuangbanna visa-free for up to six days. It is an ethnically diverse region in China's Yunnan Province. The tour groups must travel with a Chinese travel agency, and the eligible ports are Xishuangbanna Gasa International Airport, Mohan Railway Port, and Mohan Road Port.
Located in the southwest of China, Yunnan, also known as the “South of Colorful Clouds”, offers the most sincere invitation to every travel connoisseur worldwide with its fantastic natural landscapes, diverse ethnic culture, and pleasant climate in all seasons. Generally, 1 to 2 weeks is enough if you wish for access to most of Yunnan’s popular cities that can leave a totally different but equally memorable impression on you.

For a week or so of vacation, the classic route of Kunming-Dali-Lijiang-Shangri-La is highly recommended. Wander in Kunming’s ‘magical kingdom’, the Stone Forest, and probe into old legends behind those karst ‘giants’ that guard the land of the Yi people. Strolling or cycling around Dali’s shimmering Erhai Lake in the sun, your heart will be consoled by the unprecedented romance in the air. When in Dali Ancient City, will the sight of locals in ethnic costumes walking among traditional dwellings make you curious about the local Bai culture? The majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang, along with its surrounding alpine meadows and virgin forests, will surely deserve your linger. Seek inner serenity when hiking Shangri-La’s challenging trails to discover spectacular snow mountains and sweeping plateaus.

For longer trips, consider adding Jianshui to admire its ancient city, Yuanyang for Hani rice terraces, Tengchong to experience volcanic hot springs, and Xishuangbanna to breathe in the tropical rainforest. With two weeks, extend to neighboring Guizhou to explore the Miao, Zhuang, and Dong villages with diverse minority cultures.
