On November 22, 2024, China National Immigration Administration announced that China will generously grant visa-free entry to citizens of 9 more countries, including Japan, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, and Latvia. The effective period of the policy will be November 30, 2024 till December 31, 2025.
By now, China has granted the unilateral visa-free policy to all together 38 countries. The other 29 include:
Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands
In addition, China has agreed mutual visa exemption with 25 countries, including Singapore, Thailand, Qatar and UAE.
China National Immigration Administration announced at the same time that the duration of visa-free stay will be extended from present 15 days to 30 days. This will be eligible to citizens of all the above 38 countries, also from November 30, 2024 on.
Currently, the travel purposes of the visa-free entry into China are doing business, traveling, visiting relatives and friends, and transit. From November 30 on, those coming to China for exchange visits will also enjoy the policy.
The visa-free policy does not only save travelers to China the visa fee, but also times and troubles spending on visa application, which is hopeful to attract more and more overseas visitors to China. Actually, in the first three quarters of 2024, China has welcomed 94.6283 million inbound visitors, increased by 78.8% compared with the same period of last year. Statistics also says those entering China visa-free account for about 30% of all the inbound visitors to China till late September in this year.
